  • Patent number: 4545986
Abstract: This invention provides a number of immunological reagents useful for the suppression of allergic reactions induced by Timothy-grass pollen allergen (or cross-reacting allergens thereof) and for methods of obtaining said reagents. The reagents include: (1) an anti-idiotypic antibody (anti-IgE.sub.id) directed to the allergen (Timothy grass antigen) binding site of an IgE immunoglobulin; (2) an anti-idiotypic antibody directed to the allergenic T-cell helper factor (T.sub.HF) derived from Timothy grass pollen antigen stimulated lymphocytes; (3) unique methods for generating antigen-specific T-suppressor cells (T.sub.S); (4) a unique method for producing antigen-specific suppressor T cell factors (T.sub.SF); (5) a method for fractionation of T.sub.SF ; and (6) a specific T cell factor, T.sub.SF2. The invention further provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising the above anti-idiotypic antibodies or suppressor factor derived from T.sub.s cells.

  • Patent number: 4256732
Abstract: Oxidative rearrangement and cleavage of hydroxy aromatic rings of quercitin moiety of Timothy grass pollen antigen or antigenic fragments gives rise to a modified antigen having no antigenic properties but retaining capability of activating T-cells for regulation of immune response. The invention includes the modified antigens, the method of oxidative cleavage, immunotherapeutic methods for alleviating allergic responses to the Timothy grass pollen antigens and immunotherapeutic compositions therefor.

  • Patent number: 4158705
Abstract: A multivalent complex suitable for blocking allergic reactions comprising (1) at least one Timothy antigen D fragment having the antigenic determinant structure: ##STR1## wherein: G represents glucose, andT represents threonine or a peptide linked to said structure through a threonine molecule;Covalently bonded through at least one glucose moiety to a peptide or protein, (2) a conjugate having the structure: ##STR2## OR (3) A CONJUGATE COMPRISING AT LEAST ONE CONJUGATE OF THE STRUCTURE: ##STR3## CONVALENTLY BONDED TO A PROTEIN OR PEPTIDE BY A PEPTIDE LINKAGE THROUGH THE GLUTATHIONE MOIETY.A method of forming complex (1) by activating a glucose moiety of the Timothy antigen D fragment and reacting the thus activated intermediate with a peptide or protein.A method of treating allergies comprising injecting one of the above complexes into an individual to inhibit antigen-induced histamine release. An injectable composition for blocking allergic reactions containing the above complex.
