    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for improving the appearance of a visual display, such as a television receiver or computer monitor, when not in use. A decorative surface is provided that is capable of displacement between a first condition in which it covers at least the display area when the display is not in use, and a second condition in which the decorative surface is displaced beyond the display area when the latter is in use. Various embodiments and improvements are disclosed.
