  • Patent number: 8087860
Abstract: A self-indicating lug nut for use with an automobile wheel stud having an outermost first external thread. The lug nut includes a nut body having an internally threaded bore including a plurality of internal threads, an outermost last internal thread, and an outer end. The lug nut further includes an indicating member removably attached to the nut body proximate to the outer end. The lug nut is configured such that when the lug nut is threadibly advanced onto the wheel stud, interfering contact between the first external thread and the indicating member displaces the indicating member from the nut body. The indicating member can separate into two or more pieces when displaced from the nut body. Displacement of the indicating member provides a visible indication that all of the internal threads of the nut body have engaged the external threads of the wheel stud.

  • Patent number: 7857737
Abstract: The disclosed device is an oscillating exercise device for strengthening of the muscles comprising the shoulder and the torso. The device is held in the user's hand and moved in an oscillating manner to simulate a sports specific movement or for muscle strengthening. The device is composed of a tube with internally threaded ends, detachable, threaded end caps, hinged clamshell handle, weight mass and elastic resistance bands. The end caps house springs that extend into the tube when screwed to the ends of the tube. The weight is of a diameter such that it may travel freely along the inner length of the tube, yet closely matched to the inner diameter of the tube such that significant air compression occurs in front of the moving weight. The generated air compression slows the velocity of the traveling weight and reduces the shock of the weight when it impacts the springs at the tube ends. An attachable handle allow for improved simulation of sports specific throwing motions.

  • Publication number: 20100202629
Abstract: A sound reproduction system includes an electro-acoustic transducer and a transducer driver for driving the electro-acoustic transducer. The transducer drive includes a filter which is configured to reproduce at a listener's location an approximation to the local sound field that would be present at the listener's ears in recording space, taking into account the characteristics and intended position of the electro-acoustic transducer relative to the listener's ears. The electro-acoustic transducer includes a first sound emitter which provides an intermediate sound emission channel, and second and third sound emitters providing respective left and right sound emission channels. The first sound emitter is located intermediate of second and third sound emitters. Higher frequencies from at least one of the second and third sound emitters are transmitted closer to the first sound emitter while lower frequencies are transmitted away from the first sound emitter.

  • Patent number: 7396278
Abstract: The movable cleaning shoe frame is provided with internal sidewalls. The frame supports a sieve for receiving grain to be cleaned. The sieve is provided with longitudinally extending dividers that define a plurality of longitudinally extending grain flow channels. The sidewalls and the dividers are provided with cleaning shoe spreaders that extend into the longitudinally extending grain flow channels above the sieve. Movement of the cleaning shoe drives the spreaders to flap back and forth. This flapping action of the spreaders distributes the grain to be cleaned transversely across the sieve so that the cleaning assembly operates more efficiently.

  • Patent number: 7150921
Abstract: A bi-layer bond coating for use on metal alloy components exposed to hostile thermal and chemical environment, such as a gas turbine engine, and the method for applying such coatings. The preferred coatings include a bi-layer bond coat applied to the metal substrate using high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) thermal spraying. Bi-layer bond coatings in accordance with the invention consist of a dense first inner layer (such as iron, nickel or cobalt-based alloys) that provides oxidation protection to the metal substrate, and a second outer layer having controlled porosity that tends to promote roughness, mechanical compliance, and promotes adherence of the thermal barrier coating (TBC). Preferably, the outer, less dense layer of the bi-layer bond coat is formed from a mixture of metallic powder and polyester to adjust and control the porosity, but without sacrificing mechanical compliance.

  • Patent number: 7093194
Abstract: A web-based data access system is described that allows users to easily access, manipulate and share information. The users can access the system to create customized view of the data and share the views with others. The data access system includes a database for storing multidimensional data. Electronic reports are stored as report object on a server and define dimensions and members of multidimensional data that are included in an electronic report. A page generation module executes on the server to access the multidimensional data and format a web page based on the report object. A packet engine communicates the web page to a client device in a stream of packets for display to the user.

  • Patent number: 7072474
Abstract: Sound recordings are played through a closely-spaced pair of loudspeakers with a predetermined listener position having an included angle of between 6° and 20°, and filter means being employed in creating said sound recordings, the filter means having characteristics such that when the sound recordings are played, the need to provide a virtual imaging filter means at the inputs to the loudspeakers to create virtual sound sources is avoided, the sound recording being such that when played through the loudspeakers a phase difference between vibrations of the two loudspeakers results where the phase difference varies with frequency from low frequencies where the vibrations are substantially out of phase to high frequencies where the vibrations are in phase, the lowest frequency at which the vibrations are in phase being determined approximately by a ringing frequency, f0.
