  • Publication number: 20130165269
Abstract: A golf ball is provided that may include one or more structural layers, including an outermost structural layer having an outer surface. The ball may also include a primer coating applied to the entire outer surface of the outermost structural layer. In addition, the ball may include indicia applied on the primer coating in a localized area. Further, the ball may include an intermediate coating applied in the localized area over the indicia, wherein the intermediate coating is formulated to prevent alteration of the indicia by the application of the intermediate coating. A top coating may be applied over the entire ball, including the primer coating and the localized area including the intermediate coating.

  • Publication number: 20130134626
Abstract: An apparatus and method of creating a dimple on a golf ball comprises the positioning of a runner and gate in a mold in a location where it is desired to form a dimple. A polymer is injected into a mold cavity in the mold. A cutter is placed adjacent the mold. When the cutter is actuated to cut the polymer, a pocket is formed between the cutter and the polymer in the mold, thereby creating a dimple on the molded golf ball.

  • Publication number: 20130137528
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining an angle of attack of a golf swing based on multiple ball hitting is disclosed. Multiple golf balls of different known constructions are hit by a golfer. Club head speed and backspin data associated with each of the hit golf balls is measured. Based on a correlation between an angle of attack and measured data associated with the golf balls of different known constructions, an angle of attack of a golf swing can be determined. Different sets of golf balls of known constructions can be provided based on characteristics of a golfer. A kit including at least three golf balls of different known constructions and a database containing the correlation between data associated with the at least three golf balls and an angle of attack is also disclosed.
