  • Patent number: 7579925
Abstract: A circuit board construction which reduces unwanted electrical effects and lower signal quality resulting from the use of vias in relatively thick circuit boards or in circuit boards carrying signals of relatively high frequency. The circuit board includes a through-hole in the circuit board substrate for carrying a conductive via stub, the stub having an inherent stub characteristic; and a compensation element, such as a surface mount capacitor, positioned on the substrate such that when the stub is carried by the through-hole the inherent stub characteristic is adjusted to define a compensated stub characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20070137891
Abstract: A printed circuit board has one or more layers on which electrically conductive traces reside. The printed circuit board also includes a thru-hole via formed in one or more of the layers. The thru-hole via includes at least two electrically conductive portions that are electrically isolated from each other, where the electrically conductive portions connect electrically to separate conductive traces.

  • Patent number: 6798666
Abstract: A printed circuit board includes a power layer for use in providing electrical power to circuit components and a ground layer for use in carrying electrical current away from the circuit components. A loss element connects electrically between the power layer and ground layer to suppress electrical noise caused by changes in current flow in the circuit components.

  • Patent number: 6329590
Abstract: An apparatus and method for electromagnetic shielding is disclosed. The apparatus comprises an enclosure, a plate, and a material disposed between the enclosure and the plate. The enclosure has an aperture that is substantially transmissive to electromagnetic radiation. The plate is coupled to the enclosure proximate to the aperture, and covers the aperture completely with an area of overlap on all sides of the aperture. The material is disposed between the plate and the enclosure in the area of overlap between the plate and the enclosure and provides intimate contact between the enclosure and the plate to substantially prevent electromagnetic radiation from passing through the aperture when the plate is coupled to the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 5990420
Abstract: A device for securing multiple cables including a first comb member which has teeth and spaces. The spaces locate different multiple cables. A closure member can also be a comb with teeth and spaces. The two comb members are hinged on one side to open and close, so that the relative spaces are in alignment when closed. There is a securing member for securing the two combs together. Cables can remain in their relative spaces when the combs are opened or closed.

  • Patent number: 5823005
Abstract: A cooling system for cooling computer components generating thermal energy. The cooling system includes a high efficiency heat exchanger attached to the heat producing component and an evaporator. The heat exchanger comprises a hollow body formed of a thermally conductive material having a coolant inlet and a coolant outlet. A periodically lanced metal fin is located within the hollow body and is oriented between the inlet and outlet to provide maximum contact of the coolant along the surface area of the metal fin. An evaporator is attached to the inlet of the heat exchanger to pre-cool the air flow delivered to the heat exchanger and thus the heat generating component.

  • Patent number: 5794450
Abstract: An electrical component cooling system is described which achieves low cooling temperatures for densely packaged electrical components using environmentally friendly working fluids. The cooling system uses a remotely located pressure wave generator to provide working fluid pulses to a plurality of regenerators. The mass flow and pressure relationships effecting cooling for the regenerator is controlled by tuning the pulse tube, orifice, and working fluid reservoir characteristics.
