  • Publication number: 20120061164
Abstract: Disclosed is a power steering system for a motor vehicle, comprising a housing in which a steering rod is held in an axially movable manner. The steering rod comprises a spindle section which, together with a rotatably mounted recirculating ball nut forms a recirculating ball screw and nut gear. A support bushing is provided between an axial end of the steering rod and the recirculating ball nut, the bushing providing a through-hole for guiding the steering rod through. The inner face of the support bushing which faces the steering rod has a curved contour so that the opening cross-section of the through-hole increases toward the end of the steering rod. The curved contour is adapted to a bending line of the steering rod so that the steering rod, when it comes in contact with the support bushing as a result of a bending load, abuts the curved contour thereof in a planar manner.

  • Patent number: 7905317
Abstract: A superimposed steering system for a vehicle, e.g., a servo-assisted or power steering system for a motor vehicle, includes a differential drive, which is configured as a shaft drive and has a first input shaft and a second input shaft, for superimposing the rotational angles that occur in the first and second input shafts on an output shaft of the differential drive. The output shaft acts on an input shaft of a steering gear. The first input shaft interacts with a steering handle by a steering shaft and the second input shaft interacts with a servo motor. A superimposed steering system may apply an additional steering angle, without play, to the output shaft and may have a simple, cost-effective, space-saving construction, while being easy to install. The first input shaft is directly connected in a detachable manner to a radially flexible flex-spline of the shaft drive, the first input shaft passing through an eccentric drive core of the shaft drive, which extends into the radially flexible flex spline.

  • Publication number: 20100236860
Abstract: An electric power steering system, and in particular a power-assisted steering system for a vehicle, comprises a steering transmission housing and a housing cover which forms an axial closure of the steering transmission housing and which is penetrated by an axially displaceable component of the steering transmission. In order to provide an electric power steering system which is easy to assemble and is not susceptible to wear, in an axially outer region of the housing cover, a first guide bushing for the axially displaceable component is integrated in the housing cover.

  • Patent number: 5904221
Abstract: In a toothed-rack power-assisted steering, which is provided for motor vehicles in particular, a pinion (2) seated in a steering housing (1) is in engagement with a toothed rack (6). A servo motor (8) is disposed as a power assist, whose piston rod (10) is drivingly connected with the toothed rack (6). The two work chambers (12, 13) of the servo motor (8) are connected with a control device (18) via work lines (12, 13), which are connected with a cylinder (11) of the servo motor (8) and with the control device (18) via two connecting elements (24, 25). Each work line (14, 15) has a collar (32). Each line is held on the connecting element (24, 25) by a fastening clasp (34) which projects over the collar (32). The fastening clasp (34) has an essentially rectangular and flat base (35). An elongated slit (36), open toward one side, is located in the base (35), through which the fastening clasp (34) can be pushed from the side over the line (14, 15) and the connecting element (24, 25).

  • Patent number: 5615582
Abstract: A rack-and-pinion steering gear which includes a steering shaft provided with a driving pinion that engages a rack which is arranged laterally with respect to the steering shaft and which rack is capable of axial movement. A stop formed by a snap ring anchored in a borehole of the steering housing in combination with a supporting part retained by the snap ring supports a thrust piece which is pressed by a spring element against the back of the rack, is guided in the housing borehole and serves to guide the rack in a bedding of the thrust piece. The rack-and-pinion steering gear is further characterized by the supporting part for the spring element or the thrust piece being formed by at least one inwardly directed bar which is firmly connected to the snap ring and which lies in the same plane as the snap ring.

  • Patent number: 5542338
Abstract: A rotary slide valve (1) for power-assisted steering systems of motor vehicles contains a rotary slide (2) that is guided in a limited rotary fashion in a control box (3). Control box (3) is connected with a valve exit member (7) in a nonrotating manner. Rotary slide (2) is connected with valve exit member (7) via a torsion rod (9) and a dead-travel clutch (10). Dead-travel clutch (10) consists of a catch section piece (16) of the valve exit member (7) and of recesses (17) that are fashioned on the free end of rotary slide (2). Rotary slide (2) with its longitudinal control grooves (12, 13) and with its recesses (17) is made by way of a noncutting production process. This production process is simplified and the rotary slide valve (1) is made smaller in that the recesses (17) of rotary slide (2) are arranged in longitudinal control grooves (13) of rotary slide (2) that are open toward one end.
