  • Publication number: 20240159193
Abstract: A combustion system for a vehicle having an engine includes a hydrogen fuel system having a fuel source providing a hydrogen fuel, a combustor operable to combust the hydrogen fuel to generate combustion gases, and a fuel delivery assembly operable to deliver the hydrogen fuel from the fuel source to the combustor. A first control system has a first update rate and is operable to control one or more operational aspects of the turbine engine. A second control system is in communication with the first control system and the hydrogen fuel system and has a second update rate faster than the first update rate. The second control system is operable to monitor at least one parameter associated with the hydrogen fuel system and output at least one control signal to the hydrogen fuel system to control the delivery or the combustion of the hydrogen fuel.

  • Patent number: 11965424
Abstract: A method for providing overspeed protection for a gas turbine engine having an engine shaft includes monitoring, via an overspeed protection system, a torque of the engine shaft. The method also includes determining, via the overspeed protection system, at least one additional condition of the engine shaft. Further, the method includes determining, via the overspeed protection system, an overspeed condition of the gas turbine engine when the torque of the engine shaft drops below a torque threshold and the at least one additional condition of the engine shaft is indicative of the gas turbine engine being in an operational state. Thus, the overspeed condition is indicative of an above normal rotational speed of the engine shaft. In addition, the method includes initiating a shutdown procedure for the gas turbine engine in response to the determined overspeed condition to reduce the rotational speed of the engine shaft.

  • Publication number: 20240047011
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide methods for identifying new CRISPR loci and effectors, as well as different CRISPR loci combinations found in various organisms. Class-II CRISPR systems contain single-gene effectors that have been engineered for transformative biological discovery and biomedical applications. Discovery of additional single-gene or multicomponent CRISPR effectors may enhance existing CRISPR applications, such as precision genome engineering. Comprehensive characterization of CRISPR-loci may identify novel functional roles of CRISPR loci enabling new tools for biomedicine and biological discovery. CRISPR loci have enormous feature complexity, but classification of CRISPR loci has been focused on a small fraction of highly abundant features. Increased genome sequencing has enhanced the sampling of this feature complexity.

In certain example embodiments, the CRISPR-Cas effector protein is a Type V effector protein. In certain other example embodiments, the Type V effector protein is Cpf1. Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to viral vectors for delivery of CRISPR-Cas effector proteins, including Cpf1. In certain example embodiments, the vectors are designed so as to allow packaging of the CRISPR-Cas effector protein within a single vector. There is also an increased interest in the design of compact promoters for packing and thus expressing larger transgenes for targeted delivery and tissue-specificity.

  • Patent number: 11816602
Abstract: A method and system for the online vehicle rentals, such as a car share rental, allows for a customer to self-dispatch and self-return a rental vehicle without requiring special equipment in the rental vehicle or the presence of rental personnel at the dispatch or return location. At the beginning of the rental period, the customer is prompted to input to a rental management computer system, via a mobile computer device, information about the mileage and fuel level of the rental vehicle and to report existing damage to the rental vehicle. If the customer wishes to extend the rental time period, the customer is prompted to select a requested extended end time for the rental time period and to send the requested extended end time to the rental management computer system.

  • Patent number: 11727140
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system configured to collect and maintain user data within a first party silo while allowing third party data consumers to use the user data in accordance with explicit input from users. The system provides a user with transparency and control with regard to data use by displaying graphical user interfaces configured to receive input indicating whether the user allows or prevents third party data consumers to use his or her data. The system exposes an API that enables the third party data consumers to submit a data query. The system uses the data query to internally analyze a user data set. User data is included in the user data set in accordance with the input. The system is configured to provide, via the API, a result of the analysis to the third party data consumer that submitted the data query without providing the user data set.

  • Publication number: 20230080966
Abstract: A system for mobile rental of vehicles is provided. The system stores reservation information associated with a customer reservation of a rental vehicle, including a rental return location. During a process for returning the rental vehicle, the system causes the customer's mobile device to share its GPS location information, and uses the shared mobile device GPS location to automatically confirm that the customer is at the rental return location. The system can calculate the distance between the mobile device GPS location and the rental return location to determine whether to instruct the customer to move the vehicle and can confirm that the customer is at the rental return location if the mobile device location is within a pre-defined minimum distance from the rental return location.

  • Publication number: 20220398345
Abstract: An application programming interface (API) is provided to an application configured to cause display of a user interface (UI). An item of targeted content and metadata corresponding to the item of targeted content is received. The item is rendered in the UI and a call to the API is initiated based on the metadata, the call causing the UI to render a UI feature concurrently within the item. Interaction with the UI feature causes the application to display additional UI features that identify the provider of the item and user information it possesses, the information comprising a reason for the item being provided. Further UI features may be rendered that enable a user to manage such information. In another aspect, the application may comprise a web browser and UI features rendered using the API may comprise a tracker information UI that enables the user to control use of browser trackers.

  • Patent number: 11522837
Abstract: Embodiments described herein are directed to intelligently classifying Web trackers in a privacy preserving manner and mitigating the effects of such Web trackers. As users browse the Web and encounter various Web sites, tracker-related metrics are determined. The metrics are obfuscated to protect the privacy of the user. The obfuscated metrics are provided as inputs to a machine learning model, which is configured to output a classification for the Web trackers associated with the Web sites visited by the user. Depending on the classification, the effects of the Web trackers are mitigated by placing restrictions on the Web trackers. The restrictions for a particular Web tracker may be relaxed based on a level of user engagement a user has with respect to the tracker's associated Web site. By doing so, the compatibility risks associated with tracking prevention are mitigated for Web sites that are relatively important to the user.

  • Patent number: 11488241
Abstract: A system for rental of vehicles stores reservation information for a customer reservation of a rental vehicle, including a scheduled pickup time and pickup location for the rental vehicle. The system receives information from the customer's a mobile device, including image information and location information. When the customer arrives at the rental pickup location, the system prompts the customer to use the mobile device to capture and upload an image of the customer's driver's license, a current image of the customer, and location information for confirming that the customer image was captured at the rental pickup location. The system displays the uploaded driver's license image, the uploaded customer image and the stored reservation information to an operator to verify the identity of the customer before the customer is approved to pick up the rental vehicle.
