Abstract: Data management between a common data store and multiple applications of multiple disparate application frameworks. A data storage component is provided that facilitates the storage of data, which data includes structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data. A common data platform interfaces to the data storage component to provide data services accessible by a plurality of disparate application frameworks, which data services allow a corresponding application of the different frameworks to access the data.

Abstract: The claimed subject matter provides a system and/or a method that facilitates authentication of a user in a surface computing environment. A device or authentication object can be carried by a user and employed to retain authentication information. An authentication component can obtain the authentication information from the device and analyze the information to verify an identity of the user. A touch input component can ascertain if a touch input is authentication by associating touch input with the user. In addition, authentication information can be employed to establish a secure communications channel for transfer of user data.

Abstract: An application program interface (API) for a data platform. The API includes a generic data access component that exposes at least one of stores, sessions, transactions, and query services of the data platform, which data platform is associated with a data store. A data classes component of the API provides canonical, application-independent classes that expose types and relationships of a data model of the data platform. The API includes a domain data classes component of application-specific and framework-specific classes that expose domain-specific properties and behaviors of the data platform. The data platform can be a common data platform that interfaces to the data store to provide data services accessible by a plurality of disparate application frameworks, which data services allow a corresponding application of the different frameworks to access the data store.

Abstract: The Check Multimedia Linking functionality provides a mechanism for users to verify that all media links to media elements in the current multimedia presentation are still valid. A media link is valid if the media element (media file or external data as in CD data) can be located. If a media element cannot be located, the check media links feature of the present invention allows users to remedy invalid media links by either locating one or more specific media elements, or by changing (adding) a path to the current search path that the media manager uses to locate media elements. Additionally, the user has the option of disabling a media element if the link cannot be found. A disabled media element will not show up in the check links list in the next verification search.
