  • Patent number: 4235754
Abstract: A metal combustion promoter is introduced to the circulating inventory of catalyst in a catalytic cracking unit as a mixture of particles rich in metal with particles free of metal such that the net concentration of metal in the mixture is about 1 to 10 ppm. According to a preferred embodiment the particles rich in metal contain about 50 ppm of platinum, iridium, osmium, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium or rhenium. When such mixtures are supplied to the circulating inventory, it is found that specific activity of the metal is enhanced in the sense that activity of the mixture for oxidation of carbon monoxide is higher than that of catalyst in which an equal amount of metal is evenly distributed among all the particles.

  • Patent number: 4137152
Abstract: A catalytic process is provided for cracking a hydrocarbon charge stock containing aromatic nuclei components and non-aromatic nuclei components which involves contacting such chargestock with a catalyst composition having an alkali metal content less than about 1.5 weight percent and containing a mixture of faujasite and mordenite in which contacting takes place under catalytic cracking conditions of such severity that the conversion level exceeds that attributable to conversion of the non-aromatic nuclei portion of the chargestock. Under such conditions, the coke yield is substantially lower than would be obtained with the same catalyst in the absence of mordenite at the same level of conversion.
