    Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming at least one end of a coil spring blank into a hook, in which the blank is releasably clamped on a carriage at the first of a series of succeeding stations through which the carriage is movable. Where an end loop of the coil is to be formed into a hook that loop is bent into a position transverse to the axis of the coil of the blank at a second station and at a further succeeding station the free end of the loop is severed to a predetermined length. Where a laterally extending leg of the blank is to be formed into a hook the leg is bent into a position transverse to the axis of the coil of the blank at a second station, the leg is bent at a third station to form a hook, and at a fourth station the free end of the leg is severed to a predetermined length.
