  • Patent number: 4922704
Abstract: According to the method, an end part of a roving is first introduced into the main drafting zone of a drafting frame of a textile machine after a reference point at a clamping device. Thereafter, a middle part of the roving is drawn laterally into the preliminary drafting zone solely by the tension of the main drafting zone. The apparatus comprises a gripper which is connected via a pivotable arm or a telescopic arm to a mobile or stationary robot which can cooperate either with a pusher, a spacer or a fixed slider.

  • Patent number: 4509230
Abstract: A drafting mechanism for a spinning machine containing a preliminary drafting zone and a main drafting zone is cleaned. There is provided an infeed roller pair comprising an upper roller and a lower roller, an exit or delivery roller pair comprising an upper roller and a lower roller, and an upper apron and a lower apron driven by an apron roller pair. The preliminary drafting zone extends between the infeed roller pair and the nip line formed by the apron rollers pressed against the upper and lower aprons, and the main drafting zone extends between this nip line and the exit roller pair. The lower apron extends beneath the preliminary drafting zone and the lower infeed roller. During operation of the drafting mechanism the lower apron is in grazing or wiping contact with the lower one of the infeed rollers. There is thus attained cleaning of the lower infeed roller and the lower apron without requiring special means for such cleaning.

  • Patent number: 4445323
Abstract: An apparatus for the conjoint gripping of bobbins by means of pins or spigots formed of a rigid material, mounted at a support or carrier, and insertable into the bobbins. An expansible hose or tube member extends lengthwise of the support, this hose member when subjected to an increased internal pressure serving to press the bobbins against the pins or pin members inserted therein. This known apparatus has the advantage that there does not occur damage to the entering pin members, nor does there arise permanent deformation or destruction thereof. Yet, such apparatus possesses the shortcomings that the seized bobbins, when pressed against the pin members, are not positioned with sufficient accuracy in a direction parallel to the longitudinal direction of the support.

  • Patent number: 4332059
Abstract: A drive for the rolls defining a main drafting zone of drafting arrangements of long spinning machines, wherein in order to prevent drafting defects caused by distortion movement of the rolls, the latter are driven from one end by a first gear arrangement and from the other end are interconnected rigidly drivewise or slippage-free, respectively, during the standstill of the spinning machine via a second gear arrangement and via a freewheel clutch.
