  • Publication number: 20070107554
Abstract: The device performs the function of opening and/or closing lids attached to containers, and more particularly child-proof lids in at least some embodiments. The device preferably includes a base, a post, a lever, a plate to engage the lid of a container, and a mechanism that converts movement of the lever to rotational movement of the plate against a lid. The conversion mechanism in at least some embodiments includes a spring.

  • Publication number: 20070011810
Abstract: In at least one embodiment, the invention includes an examination table for supporting a patient to allow the patient to undergo examination, comprising: a platform having a first side and a second side, a first leaf hinged to the first side, a second leaf hinged to the second side, and an elevation device residing underneath the platform, wherein the elevation device is adapted to cause the platform to incline toward a first direction or a second direction, thereby activating the first or second hinged leaf depending upon to which of the first and second directions the platform is elevated. In at least one embodiment, the hinged leaves are extendable and extend when the opposite side of the platform is inclined.

  • Publication number: 20060000678
Abstract: This invention relates to gravity reactive braking systems. According to the invention there is provided a brake system to control speed in a forward direction for descending inclined surfaces and a brake system for controlling rollback when ascending an inclined surface. The speed pacer braking assembly includes a downhill activator for selectively engaging a disc brake system when a predetermined inclined is reach. The anti-rollback assembly comprises a pair of graded brake cam structures operatively disposed adjacent wheels wherein the natural pull of gravity and the configuration of the cams operate to allow passage of wheels in both directions when on flat surfaces and in only a single direction when on an incline. When on an incline, gravity operates to dispose cams relative to the wheels such that rotation of wheels in one direction is hindered by a thickening of cam body caused by rotation of cam about its axis.

  • Publication number: 20050246903
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an ergonomic handle for a tool such as a utility knife. The handle includes a body having a first end and a second end. The body includes a lever arm attached to the second end of the body and a grip connected to and located perpendicular to the body. The lever arm rests against the back of a user's hand thereby stabilizing the handle during use.

  • Publication number: 20050132845
Abstract: The present invention is a portable securing apparatus for fastening and unfastening a lid to a container. The apparatus minimizes or prevents health risks of medical conditions associated with repetitive and cumulative motions by minimizing or preventing repetitive motions performed by an individual. The apparatus includes a base and a balancer configured to hold a rotational drive mechanism. The base provides support for the container by allowing the container to rest thereon in an upright position. The balancer is connected to the base and is configured to hold the rotational drive mechanism. The balancer provides for movement of the rotational drive mechanism to engage the container lid.
