  • Publication number: 20050003849
Abstract: A radio antenna used to support a microphone for use in a device such as a mobile telephone such that the combining of the two elements save space and reduces the size and weight when compared to standard techniques. A standard speaker serves as earpiece which is attached to the head of the user or held adjacent to the ear of the user using techniques well known in the art. The microphone is physically attached to the antenna by a plastic bracket or by a Jubilee Clip or other similar device such that the microphone is electrically insulated from the antenna. The microphone will move up and down the length of the antenna in order to match a comfortable working position for a user. In this case, the Jubilee clip can be slackened and the microphone can be raised or lowered along the length of the antenna. In an alternative embodiment, an acoustic tube is used to carry sound from the mouth to a microphone positioned within a module which is held in close proximity to the ear of the user.

  • Publication number: 20040246272
Abstract: A visual display unit connected to a central processing unit such as exhibited with a personal computer. A sensor which measures the distance between the user and the visual display unit is provided. The purpose of the sensor enables the computer to determine the distance of the user in relation to the visual display unit, such that the size and content of information displayed upon the visual display unit can be automatically adjusted. As the user moves away from the visual display unit, the central processing unit causes the image shown on the visual display unit to enlarge any displayed information, thus counteracting the effects of perspective, which makes objects appear smaller the further away they are from the viewer. An alternative embodiment replaces the sensor with a web camera and a still image capture apparatus to measure the distance from the user to the visual display unit by utilizing at least two reference points on the user to make a “range finder” calculation.

  • Publication number: 20040249747
Abstract: The invention is a fraud prevention system and method to protect a credit card user from financial misappropriation and identify theft. Means for comparing a transaction receipt signature against another signature is provided. If the comparison does not meet certain predetermined criteria, the need for additional identification is automatically conveyed to the sales associate. The user is provided means for transaction details forwarded to the user's mobile phone or email address. Further, once the transaction has been completed, any remaining paper traces of the transaction at the point of sale are destroyed. Means for allowing the issuing company to electronically send a message which will result in the destruction of the card in use is also provided. The user can be provided with an electronic journal which will serve as a repository of all transactions so that any unauthorized use of the user's credit card will be found more quickly.

  • Publication number: 20040246199
Abstract: A three-dimensional image for a set viewpoint wherein a user can control the viewpoint, effectively rotating the displayed image around at least the Y-axis. By tracking the position of the user and altering the viewpoint of the projected image, the image can be automatically rotated to suit the user's viewing position. The soundscape can also be altered to match the currently displayed viewpoint. The viewpoint can be controlled by the user, who is effectively able to “explore” the moving image. To provide a three-dimensional display environment, the invention utilizes at least two stacked display layers, enabled by using stacked Transparent Organic Light Emitting Devices (TOLEDS), which are well known in the art. Color TOLED technology is itself stacked display technology, having multiple layers, each of a differing color, namely cyan, magenta, yellow and black or red, green and blue.

  • Publication number: 20040240653
Abstract: A communication apparatus and method that enables a user to effect a change of telephone number, at will, without involving any technical support, or service provider personnel. Publishing a user's telephone number to a predefined list of third parties is also provided. Verification of the forwarded telephone number is provided as well as the ability of a user to invite or reject forwarded calls to accept or reject calls. Call management rules, affecting incoming calls, on a call by call, or calling party by calling party basis is provided on a case by case basis. These rules may further be applied to calling groups. The user may express the current user mode and indicate whether the user can be reached or not. Additional information related to calling parties utilizing a proprietary server or other third party directories, databases and the like can also be obtained. Further, authorized third party callers can communicate directly with the user's call management system.

  • Publication number: 20040239624
Abstract: An input apparatus that can be customized and utilized by users having a wide range of physical abilities. The Input apparatus can be used to act as the input interface for other devices. The invention can be incorporated into virtually any device controlled by user commands and other forms of data entry. The simplest embodiment of the invention is conceptually similar to the keypad of a mobile phone. Inputs are made through the input surface, which is a collection of sparsely placed pressure, or touch sensitive, sensors which track the movement of the implement (user's finger or stylus). The implement is brought into contact with the input surface and is moved across the input surface, visiting various preset points, optionally guided through channels in the input surface, along approximate straight or curved lines or paths. The series of lines, formed by the interconnection of the preset points forms a trace path.

  • Publication number: 20030194071
Abstract: A telephony system that enables a user to personally his/her telephone number or numbers that can reach a particular handset and then change those numbers at will, or block certain parties from reach the handset. The handset also features a swipe slot so that a credit card can be inserted therein. A method of using a unique one time use credit card that is useless of a thief provides security to prevent fraudulent charges by non-authorized users.
