  • Patent number: 11240105
Abstract: A computer system performs software discovery on a shared resource in a network. A logical group is generated for the shared resource, wherein the logical group includes a plurality of devices accessing the shared resource. A designated device is selected from the plurality of devices for performing a software discovery operation on the shared resource, wherein the selection is based on one or more performance factors. Results of the software discovery operation on the shared resource are received from the designated device. The results of the software discovery operation are distributed by the designated device to the plurality of devices. Embodiments of the present invention further include a method and program product for performing software discovery on a shared resource in a network in substantially the same manner described above.

  • Patent number: 11023226
Abstract: A virtual scan group manager (VSGM) can receive a plurality of respective sets of data from a plurality of respective devices. The VSGM can allocate respective portions of the plurality of respective sets of data to respective virtual scan groups (VSGs). The VSGs can be processed by storing the data contained in each VSG in a data repository. Respective sets of data stored in the data repository can be catalogued in a VSGM logfile.

  • Patent number: 10733289
Abstract: A solution is proposed for identifying software components in a computing system. A corresponding method comprises monitoring events relating to one or more software components of the computing system, filtering the events into filtered events according to finalizing events of corresponding event sequences ending with the finalizing events, each of the event sequences relating to a logical operation for a corresponding current software component of the software components being finalized by the finalizing events, and determining corresponding current signatures of the current software components of the filtered events, each of the current signatures being determined according to at least part of a content of the corresponding current software component for use to identify the current software component according to a comparison of the current signature with one or more known signatures of known software components.

  • Patent number: 10291700
Abstract: As disclosed herein a computer-implemented method includes receiving a delta scan from an endpoint system comprising changes to a baseline inventory, and determining if the delta scan can be processed. The method further includes responsive to determining that the delta scan can be processed, processing the delta scan to produce a synchronized baseline inventory, and responsive to determining that the delta scan cannot be processed, indicating that the delta scan is unable to be processed. The method further includes responsive to indicating the delta scan is unable to be processed, receiving a most recent full system scan from the endpoint system to provide a new synchronized baseline inventory. A computer program product and a computer system corresponding to the above method are also disclosed herein.

  • Patent number: 9065825
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to methods, apparatus and systems, including computer program products for license management in one or more computer systems. A first computer runs a master license server process instance. The master license service process instance is associated with a hardware identifier relates to the first computer and has a license to run a predefined number of concurrent production license server process instances that are responsible for license management towards clients. A request is received by the master license server process instance for a license from a production license server process instance in a second computer. The master license server process instance provides a virtual identifier to the production license server process instance to be used as a unique identifier for license management purposes towards clients by the production license server process instance. The virtual identifier is cryptographically secured against modification.
