  • Publication number: 20100170876
Abstract: A circuit breaker has at least one housing having at least one opening, and at least one pair of contacts located in the housing, the contacts of the pair of contacts being mobile in relation to each other for opening and closing an electric circuit. An open-pore metal foam (20) is interposed between at least one of the pairs of contacts and at least one housing opening (11), the metal foam being electrically insulated from the current-carrying elements of the circuit breaker (1). An open-pore metal foam (20), produced of a zinc base alloy or aluminum base alloy, can be used as a cooling structure for the dissipation of heat from switching gases that are produced by an electric switching process.

  • Patent number: 7470870
Abstract: A low-voltage circuit breaker includes a first contact arrangement, for connecting a fixed contact to a first busbar and a second contact arrangement, for connecting a counter contact, arranged on a contact lever, to a second busbar. A low-voltage circuit breaker is produced, which may be converted with minimal material complexity and little effort from a fixed switch into a modular switch, whereby the busbars of a low-voltage circuit breaker include moulded features such that the low-voltage circuit breaker may be embodied as both a fixed breaker and a modular breaker.

  • Patent number: 7091432
Abstract: A power circuit breaker includes an insertion rack which is arranged in a distribution unit and a lock system for locking the power circuit breaker in the insertion rack in a locking system. The locking system can be actuated by a drive mechanism, in particular by the switch shaft of the power circuit breaker.

  • Patent number: 7045731
Abstract: The invention relates to a switch contact arrangement with a first moving switch contact, with a second switch contact, provided for the first switch contact and with an erosion display, for the switch contacts. The erosion display comprises an erosion pointer and a display surface or display edge. The display pointer follows the movement of the first switch contact and, on closing the contacts, then only extends over the display surface or display edge when the value for the erosion of the switch contacts is less than a given maximum value. In order to be able to shorten the display pointer in the unused condition without a special tool to give a separation from the display surface or display edge, the value of which corresponds to the value of the maximum permitted erosion of the switch contacts, at least one marking for the cutting of the display pointer is provided, whereby the marking is separated from the display surface or display edge by the maximum permitted erosion of the switch contacts.

  • Patent number: 6831240
Abstract: A drive train is for a displaceable contact on a breaker contact arrangement in an electrical power breaker. A coupling element displaceable against a stop and arranged between the moveable contact and corresponding drive element is provided with an anti-bounce device, including a catch element and a counter piece. The catch element which may be swung into a catch position as a result of the inertia exerted on the centre of gravity thereof, when the coupling element strikes the stop, includes a working surface extending in the pivoting direction to forma momentary working connection with the counter piece. A retaining spring is additionally provided on the catch element to guarantee that a rebounding of the coupling element into the position corresponding to the close state of the breaker contact arrangement does not occur.

  • Patent number: 6784393
Abstract: An arc quenching device for an air-switching low-voltage switching device includes quenching plates, which are arranged between and attached to parallel insulating walls, as well as a cover. A separate cooling device may be introduced into the space between the quenching plates and the cover. The cooling device is in the form of an insert cartridge and contains deionization technology for switching gases. Attachment pins on the cooling device and corresponding holding openings on the inside of the cover make it possible to fit the cooling device to the cover before this cover engages with the insulating walls.

  • Patent number: 6657524
Abstract: A circuit breaker includes a switching contact arrangement and a drive apparatus which operates it, with the connection between the switching contact arrangement and the drive apparatus being designed such that it is detachable. For this purpose, a contact support of the switching contact arrangement contains a coupling bolt, which produces a hinged connection to a lever arrangement for the drive apparatus. A holding piece allows a actuating shaft of the drive apparatus to be rotated to a position, and to be fixed in this position. This allows the switching contact arrangement to be removed without any problem, and subsequently to be replaced by another switching contact arrangement. Once the control panel for the circuit breaker has been removed, the holding piece can be placed on the actuating shaft and can be attached to a front housing body of the circuit breaker where the control panel would otherwise be located.
