  • Patent number: 11904789
Abstract: A body structure defines a passenger cabin. An interior portion is located in the passenger cabin, and a support portion that includes a surface and an adjustable support assembly is located in the passenger cabin. The surface is located adjacent to the interior portion, the adjustable support assembly includes actuators, and the adjustable support assembly is configured to move the surface with respect to the interior portion. Sensors are configured to generate sensor outputs, and a controller detects an event based on the sensor outputs. In response to the detection of the event, the controller outputs a control signal that controls the adjustable support assembly so that the adjustable support assembly moves at least part of the surface away from the interior portion.

  • Publication number: 20240025324
Abstract: A support assembly includes a bracket coupled to a structural portion. The bracket is configured to prevent relative motion between the end portion and the bracket when a first load is applied in a first direction, and the bracket is configured to allow relative motion between the end portion and the bracket when a second load is applied in a second direction that is different than the first direction. In some implementations, relative motion may be allowed when the second load exceeds a threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20230373421
Abstract: An object includes an internal support and an exterior portion coupled to the internal support. A deformation portion includes a top portion and a bottom portion, and a force imparted to a first location of the exterior portion causes the bottom portion of the deformation portion to contact the exterior portion. The contact causes a deformation of the exterior portion that moves a second location of the exterior portion downward relative to the first location.

  • Publication number: 20230256711
Abstract: A system may have structure. The structures may include laminated structures formed by attaching inner and outer layers together with a layer of adhesive. The inner and outer layers in a structure may be formed from polymer such as polycarbonate. Forming the structure layers from polymer may allow the structure to have desired curvature. To improve safety and/or acoustic performance of the structure, the inner and outer structure layers may be formed from different materials. The outer polymer layer may be formed from polycarbonate and the inner polymer layer may be formed from a more brittle polymer such as polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).

  • Patent number: 11713018
Abstract: A system includes a body structure, an assembly that is connected to the body structure, an airbag assembly that includes a housing that is located behind a first portion of the body structure and a deployable structure. The deployable structure is located in the housing in a stowed position and extends outward relative to the housing in an inflated position. The deployable structure includes a main chamber that is located adjacent to the seat assembly in the inflated position, and a reaction chamber that is spaced from the seat assembly by the main chamber in the inflated position. The deployable structure is configured so that forces that are applied to the main chamber of the deployable structure in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle cause the reaction chamber to move in a lateral direction so that the reaction chamber engages the body structure.

  • Patent number: 11667258
Abstract: A restraint system includes a restraint configured to deploy from an interior surface and restrain motion of an occupant and a support including a door coupled to an upper portion of the restraint. The door is configured to rotate about a pivot. The door includes a telescoping panel configured to telescopically extend from a stowed position behind the interior surface to a deployed position spaced apart from the interior surface in unison with deployment of the restraint so that the anchor reaches the deployed position after the door rotates about the pivot. • Patent number: 11590914
Abstract: A safety system for a vehicle includes a work table, an airbag, and a controller that includes a processor. The work table is disposed in an extended position and is movable to a reaction position and a stowed position. The processor is configured to receive information indicative of a vehicle event. The processor is further configured to send a command to deploy the airbag based on the information indicative of the vehicle event. When deployed, the airbag expands to abut a bottom surface of the work table and move the work table from the extended position to the reaction position such that the bottom surface of the work table in the reaction position serves as a reaction surface for the airbag.
