  • Patent number: 9900303
Abstract: Carrier-side security services for fielded devices is disclosed. In contrast to conventional authentication systems for fielded devices, wherein an end-to-end communications pathway is typically established for authentication of a fielded device by a back-end service provider, authentication and security services can be moved into devices associated with a carrier network. A device associated with the carrier network can authenticate field components to service components without first establishing a communications pathway to a back-end service provider. Further, the device can provide for secured communications with an authenticated field component and are not readable by carrier devices. In an aspect, this can allow for centralization of security elements from the periphery of back-end service providers into a device associated with the carrier network. In a further aspect, the device can host a security services platform for back-end service providers.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method including monitoring a communication network managed by a service provider to detect transmission of content to a communication device through the communication network, analyzing content information associated with the content that is transmitted to the communication device to identify a feature of the content, capturing a user-generated comment that is transmitted from the communication device through the communication network, analyzing the user-generated comment that is captured to detect an occurrence of a keyword that is associated with the feature of the content, determining whether the keyword in the user-generated comment was temporally associated with the feature of the content transmitted to the communication device to identify an occurrence of a trigger event associating the keyword with the feature of the content, and responsive to identification of the occurrence of the trigger event, transmitting a message associated with the

  • Publication number: 20180027444
Abstract: A network processor may receive a request from an endpoint device to increase a priority of traffic associated with a first quality of service class indicator, which is associated with a first packet data session quality of service label, and may increase the priority of the traffic in response to the request by sending an instruction to a network element to adjust a mapping of the first quality of service class indicator to a second packet data session quality of service label for the traffic. The network element may label packets in the traffic with the second packet data session quality of service label instead of the first packet data session quality of service label, and components of the network may process the packets labeled with the second packet data session quality of service label with a greater priority than packets labeled with the first packet data session quality of service label.

  • Patent number: 9876811
Abstract: A response to a cyber attack on a carrier network is provided. The response can be based on inspection of traffic flowing through a carrier network. The response can automatically adapt the traffic flow in response to a perceived threat. Traffic can be adapted by dynamically updating permission variables related to allowing access for user equipment (UE) to a carrier network, withdrawing or denying access to the carrier network for selected UEs. In other embodiments, signaling can be initiated at the carrier network to cause selected UEs to disable transmission of traffic contributing to the traffic flow. Determining a cyber attack condition can be based on predetermined rules associated with the traffic flow. Further, the determination can be performed at a front end of the carrier network to limit exposure of the carrier network to a detected cyber attack.

  • Patent number: 9860720
Abstract: Facilitating communication between cellular and digital mobile radio devices is presented herein. In one aspect, a digital mobile radio messaging gateway is deployed within a cellular network that allows cellular devices to send and/or receive data to digital mobile radio devices. Moreover, the digital mobile radio messaging gateway provides transparent messaging access from devices to digital mobile radio switches and/or gateways essentially making the cellular network an extension of the digital mobile radio network. As an example, the digital mobile radio messaging gateway converts data received from the digital mobile radio network to a message that conforms to a protocol supported by the cellular network. Similarly, the digital mobile radio messaging gateway converts data received from the cellular network to a message that conforms to a protocol supported by the digital mobile radio network.

  • Publication number: 20170337068
Abstract: Managing vehicle resources by a network device in lieu of a designated vehicle control device is disclosed. A connected car resource manager of a carrier core network can receive vehicle information intended for the designated vehicle control device. The connected car resource manager can determine a response command that can be substituted for a command from the designated vehicle control device update a parameter of the vehicle. The response command can be based on the vehicle information, supplementary information, etc. Moreover, the response command can be adapted based on a second tier of supplementary information by another carrier core network device. In some embodiments, the connected car resource manager can share management of response commands with the designated vehicle control device vehicle. The connected car resource manager can employ information about other vehicles connected to a network that is not available to the designated vehicle control device.

  • Publication number: 20170279910
Abstract: Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to an evolved packet core (“EPC”) applications microservices broker (“microservices broker”). According to one aspect of the concepts and technologies disclosed herein, a microservices broker can receive a microservice request that identifies a microservice. The microservices broker can check a microservices broker database for a user equipment (“UE”) that is capable of servicing the microservice request. The microservices broker can request a status of the UE from a home subscriber server (“HSS”). The status can indicate whether or not the UE is connected to a radio access network (“RAN”). If the status indicates that the UE is connected to the RAN, the microservices broker can route the microservice request to the UE for providing the microservice.

  • Patent number: 9769742
Abstract: Application services associated with a mobile communication device are facilitated by a mediator gateway. A request for providing an application service is received by the mediator gateway. The request is associated with a mobile communication device. The mediator gateway selects a network among a plurality of networks associated with different carriers to which to send the request. The request is translated into an application programming interface request that is specific to a carrier associated with the selected network. The application programming interface request is sent to an application programming interface gateway associated with the carrier that is associated with the selected network.

  • Publication number: 20170244670
Abstract: Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to behavior-based filters for signaling system number 7 (“SS7”) networks. According to one embodiment disclosed herein, a behavior-based SS7 filter executed by a processor can receive SS7 traffic. The behavior-based SS7 filter can determine a behavioral characteristic from the SS7 traffic and can compare a behavior of the SS7 traffic, based upon the behavior characteristic, to a behavior profile. The behavior-based SS7 filter also can determine whether the behavior of the SS7 traffic fits within a tolerance threshold of the behavior profile. If the SS7 traffic fits within the tolerance threshold, the behavior-based SS7 filter can instruct a signal transfer point (“STP”) to which the SS7 traffic is directed to allow routing of the SS7 traffic. If, however, the SS7 traffic does not fit within the tolerance threshold, the behavior-based SS7 filter can instruct the STP to deny routing of the SS7 traffic.
