  • Publication number: 20180352190
Abstract: Methods and systems for achieving a high frame rate video with compatibility for existing receivers without depending bitstream encoding are provided herein. For example, an apparatus comprises: a memory; and one or more processors configured to execute instructions stored in the memory. The instructions comprise: receiving a first bitstream having a first packet identifier (“PID”) and a second bitstream having a second PID; decoding the first bitstream and the second bitstream; and interleaving the decoded first bitstream and the decoded second bitstream to form a high frame rate video signal, wherein the high frame rate video signal has a frame rate equal to the sum of the frame rate of the decoded first bitstream and the decoded second bitstream.

  • Patent number: 10051269
Abstract: Systems and methods may be provided for determining whether or not to output the “decoded pictures yet to be output” (DPYTBO) after decoding a random access point (RAP) picture of the second of two consecutive coded video sequences in a bitstream. The DPYTBO pictures may reside in a portion of memory coupled to a video decoder. The portion of memory may correspond to the Decoder Picture Buffer (DPB) of the video decoder. The picture resolution in the bitstream is allowed to change only at the start of a CVS. The first coded picture in a coded video sequence (CVS) may be a RAP picture. The second CVS may or may not have a picture resolution that is different from the picture resolution corresponding to the first CVS.

  • Patent number: 9998750
Abstract: Converting video information from a first compression format to a second compression format, including receiving data for a sequence of pictures in the first compression format, the received data including a video stream corresponding to a video program and including for a picture that is inter coded motion vectors and quantized transform coefficients of residuals of motion compensated inter-coded blocks. The converting also includes extracting auxiliary information including one or more auxiliary data elements from the received data; and transcoding from the first compression format to the second compression format, including carrying out motion estimation for blocks of image data in the second compression format. Carrying out motion estimation for blocks of image data in the second format includes using the auxiliary information to ascertain whether to use a first motion estimation method or a second motion estimation method different from the first motion estimation method.

  • Publication number: 20180091571
Abstract: Methods and systems for pre-conditioning a video stream are provided herein. For example, an apparatus comprising a memory and one or more processors configured to execute instructions stored in the memory are provided. The instructions: identify packets of a first bitstream in a transport stream, such first bitstream corresponding to a base layer; identify packets of a second bitstream in the transport stream, such second bitstream corresponding to an enhancement layer; identify an initial packet corresponding to an ith picture in the first bitstream; identify an initial packet corresponding to the ith picture in the second bitstream; and reorder packets in the transport stream such that the initial packet corresponding to the ith picture in the second bitstream occurs after the initial packet corresponding to the ith picture in the first bitstream.

  • Publication number: 20180066087
Abstract: Toughened polyolefins and methods used to produce toughened polyolefins in presence of a bio-filler. These materials can substitute traditional thermoplastic polyolefins known as TPOs or mineral filled TPOs. Exemplary compositions include a phase based on ?-olefin elastomers and the use of biobased fillers. The bio-based filler used, can be a material rich in elemental carbon content. The use of additives is of regular usage for these compositions as they may be related to coupling agents, UV absorbers, light stabilizers, antioxidants, and so forth. These composition offer a remarkable lower density compared to traditional TPOs compositions altogether with bio-based value-performance addition.

  • Patent number: 9809702
Abstract: Composites containing one or more synthetic plastics, such as thermoplastics, one or more natural materials, such as plant/tree fibers, and biochar and/or torrefied material are described herein. The composite can contain additional additives, such as reinforcing agents and/or fibers, compatibilizers, etc. The composites have improved mechanical and/or physical properties, such as strength, impact strength, rigidity/modulus, heat deflection temperature, moldability/melt flow index, renewability, and lower cost compared to composites that do not contain the biochar and/or torrefied material. The presence of the biochar and/or torrefied material also serves to remove the odor often associated with natural fibers and other additives.
