  • Publication number: 20250030166
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an antenna assembly includes additively manufacturing an element that is monolithic and that includes (i) a ground plane, (ii) a patch above the ground plane, and (iii) a structure having a lower end in contact with the ground plane and an upper end in contact with the patch. The method further includes applying a dielectric material between the ground plane and the patch. In an example, the dielectric material is dielectric foam. The method further includes removing a section of the ground plane around the lower end of the structure, such that the structure extends through the ground plane and not in contact with the ground plane. The method further includes connecting an inner conductor of a coaxial cable connector to the lower end of the structure, and an outer portion of the coaxial cable connector to the ground plane.

  • Patent number: 11588225
Abstract: Techniques are provided for fabricating a low profile antenna that operates with increased efficiency. An antenna implementing the techniques according to an embodiment includes a first arm comprising a first spiral portion and a first rectilinear portion, and a second arm comprising a second spiral portion and a second rectilinear portion. The second spiral portion is concentric with the first spiral portion. The antenna further includes an insulator to separate the arms. The insulator and the arms are planar surfaces disposed within a rectangular region. The first rectilinear portion is adjacent to a first and second side of the perimeter of the rectangular region, and the second rectilinear portion is adjacent to a third and fourth side of the perimeter of the region. The antenna is fabricated as a printed circuit board which is mounted on the fuselage of an aircraft, which serves as a ground plane for the antenna.

  • Publication number: 20200403317
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to tuning features for low profile high dielectric ceramic patch antenna. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to modifying a high dielectric ceramic patch antenna to compensate for variation within the dielectric constant. The disclosure relates to adding a tuning tab to a dielectric ceramic patch antenna with a high dielectric constant for operations at or near GPS tuning frequencies.
