  • Publication number: 20240134729
Abstract: Power sourcing equipment (“PSE”) can temporarily suspend or indefinitely disable powered devices (“PDs”) exhibiting faults for more efficient resource utilization and preservation of the PSE hardware. The PSE maintains a first counter for each connected PD that indicates a count of fault events detected for the PD. Upon detecting a count of fault events for a PD within a designated time period that exceeds a first threshold, the PSE suspends the PD and increments a second counter maintained for the PD that indicates how many times the PD has been suspended. The PSE suspends processing of/responding to communications received from the suspended PD for the duration of the suspension. Subsequent fault detection and suspension for the PD can continue until the suspension count of the PD exceeds a second threshold, which triggers disabling of the faulty PD by discontinuing processing of/responding to communications received from the PD indefinitely.

  • Publication number: 20230300560
Abstract: A geofencing service establishes an initial geofence for monitoring devices connected to a cellular network. Upon receipt of a notification generated and transmitted by a device that crossed the geofence, the service determines a difference in location of the device at the times of notification generation and transmission based on coordinates included in the notification. A difference in location that satisfies a criterion indicates that the geofence corresponds to a geographic location with poor cellular network connectivity. The service modifies the geofence radius based on available signal strength data and enforces the resulting modified geofence. After this first radius modification, the service determines quality of network connectivity at geographic locations corresponding to internally tracked “shadow” geofences and modifies the geofence radius if device coordinates indicate that a shadow geofence corresponds to an area with sufficient connectivity.

  • Publication number: 20230188540
Abstract: IoT adaptive threat prevention is disclosed. Network traffic received at a security platform is monitored to detect a plurality of IoT device profiles based on the monitored network traffic. A set of signatures for the security platform is received based on the detected plurality of IoT device profiles.

  • Patent number: 10644978
Abstract: The technology described herein is directed to configuring the rate limiters of network devices based on latency measurements. The rate limiters are configured based on latency measurements such that the network traffic is transmitted and/or received at a maximum possible rate while minimizing/preventing the loss of traffic prioritization. To this end, a latency increase, estimated rate decrease algorithm may be implemented whereby the percentage rate reduction of a rate limiter is based on the rate of increase in inbound latency or outbound latency measured over a predetermined period of time (e.g., over a predetermined number of latency measurements). Depending on the change of inbound latency or outbound latency of traffic on the network, a receive rate limiter or a transmit rate limiter of an edge device may be dynamically adjusted.
