Publication number: 20240080970Abstract: Various embodiments of a flexible circuit package with a high-modulus molding compound layer are disclosed. A flexible circuit package includes a substrate with first and second regions. The first region is configured to bend. The flexible circuit package further includes a conductive line disposed on the second region, an electronic component disposed on the conductive line, and a molding compound layer disposed on the second region and surrounding the electronic component. A modulus of the molding compound layer is greater than a modulus of the substrate and the molding compound layer is configured to prevent the second region from bending.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2023Publication date: March 7, 2024Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: Leilei ZHANG, Abhay Maheshwari, Ali N. Patent number: 10617597Abstract: A wearable system is directed to neurological stimulation of a human foot, and includes a controller with at least one bias signal generator for outputting a driving signal. The system further includes a power source that provides electrical energy to the controller, including providing electrical energy to the bias signal generator. The system also includes a platform in the form of an insole insert of a shoe, the insole insert having a plurality of actuators positioned in a medial arch region of the foot. The plurality of actuators stimulate the medial arch region in response to receiving the driving signal from the controller. The stimulation of the plurality of actuators provides a subthreshold bias signal to target cells with a subthreshold bias signal magnitude that is below a threshold where the target cells are activated by a stimulus. The plurality of actuators is surrounded with a vibration dissipating material.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2016Date of Patent: April 14, 2020Assignee: President and Fellows of Harvard CollegeInventors: Arun Chawan, Hani Sallum, Robert Wood, James Niemi, James J. Patent number: 10284942Abstract: An accessory such as a wireless earbud may have an antenna for transmitting and receiving wireless signals. A housing for the earbud may have a main body portion and an extended portion that forms a stalk protruding from the main body portion. The earbud may have a speaker aligned with a speaker port in the main body portion. The antenna may have an elongated shape and may extend along the stalk. The stalk may have a plastic housing wall portion. The antenna may be formed from first and second metal traces on opposing sides of a printed circuit substrate. The first metal trace may form an antenna resonating element arm and may lie between the substrate and the plastic housing wall portion. The second metal trace may be a ground trace. A feed for the antenna may be located at a juncture between the main body portion and the stalk.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2017Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Erin A. McAuliffe, Carlo Di Nallo, Huan-Chu Huang, Joel D. Barrera, Mattia Pascolini, Jerzy S. Guterman, Arun Chawan, Benjamin Cousins, Lee M. Panecki
