  • Publication number: 20240073810
Abstract: In one embodiment, a device identifies a plurality of paths in a wireless backhaul network between a gateway and a plurality of access points that provide wireless connectivity to a mobile system. The device determines a movement of the mobile system. The device determines, based on the movement of the mobile system, that a particular path in the plurality of paths is not needed to provide wireless connectivity to the mobile system. The device causes one or more networking nodes along the particular path to enter into a power saving mode.

  • Publication number: 20230354034
Abstract: A method is provided that is performed in a wireless network to detect a rogue wireless device. The method comprises detecting a suspect wireless device in the wireless network based on messages transmitted by the suspect wireless device using a first Media Access Control (MAC) address that is also used by a valid wireless device in the wireless network. When a suspect wireless device is detected, the method next includes sending to the valid wireless device in the wireless network a request configured to cause the valid wireless device to change its MAC address. After the valid wireless device has changed its MAC address, the method involves observing messages transmitted by the suspect wireless device in the wireless network. The method then includes determining that the suspect wireless device is a rogue device when the suspect wireless device continues to transmit messages using the first MAC address.

  • Patent number: 11799514
Abstract: In one embodiment, a device identifies a path of travel of a mobile system. The device subdivides the path of travel into a plurality of zones. The device generates time-slotted channel hopping schedules for the plurality of zones, each time-slotted channel hopping schedule having an associated zone among the plurality of zones. The device causes the mobile system to communicate wirelessly with networking infrastructure located along the path of travel, in accordance with a particular one of the time-slotted channel hopping schedules while the mobile system is located in its associated zone.

  • Publication number: 20230171172
Abstract: In one embodiment, a network device along a path in a network receives a schedule that controls when the networking device is to insert telemetry data into data traffic passing through the networking device. The networking device generates the telemetry data for insertion into the data traffic passing through the networking device. The networking device inserts, according to the schedule, the telemetry data into a particular packet of the data traffic passing through the networking device. The networking device sends the particular packet to a next hop along the path in the network.

  • Publication number: 20230092337
Abstract: In one embodiment, a mobile system scans wireless channels for any upcoming access points using a dedicated monitor radio of the mobile system. The mobile system identifies a particular wireless channel in use by an upcoming access point. The mobile system notifies a second radio of the mobile system of the particular wireless channel. The mobile system performs a handoff between a current access point and the upcoming access point in part by switching the second radio of the mobile system to the particular wireless channel of the upcoming access point.

  • Patent number: 11575612
Abstract: In one embodiment, a networking device receives packets of a traffic flow destined for a mobile system. The networking device sends a first flowlet of the traffic flow towards the mobile system via a first wireless access point. The networking device determines an idle time between the first flowlet and a second flowlet of the traffic flow. The networking device sends, based on the idle time, the second flowlet towards the mobile system via a second wireless access point.

  • Publication number: 20220183111
Abstract: In one embodiment, a gateway to a Layer-3 network forms a first Layer-2 tunnel between the gateway and a first wireless access point (AP) that communicates wirelessly with a first mobile node of a mobile system (MS) via a first wireless connection. The gateway generates a mapping that associates an onboard device of the MS with the first AP and an identifier for the MS, based on traffic conveyed via the first Layer-2 tunnel and associated with the onboard device, the traffic comprising a header that indicates the identifier for the MS. The gateway receives, from a second AP, an indication that the MS is roaming from the first wireless connection to a second wireless connection, the indication including the identifier for the MS. The gateway updates the mapping to associate the onboard device of the MS with a second AP, based on the indication that the MS is roaming.

  • Publication number: 20170339265
Abstract: The present application relates to service management at a user equipment (UE). The described aspects include determining whether at least one activated service satisfies a termination condition based on detecting that a service deactivation triggering condition has been met. The described aspects further include determining whether the at least one activated service was activated based on an indication received from an interface unit of the UE based on determining that the at least one activated services satisfies the termination condition. Additionally, the described aspects include terminating operation of the at least one activated service based on determining that the at least one activated service satisfies the termination condition and the at least one service was not activated by the interface unit between the application and the at least one activated service.

  • Publication number: 20170070894
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for performing thermal mitigation in a mobile communication device having a first subscription and a second subscription. The method includes, but not limited to, determining whether the mobile communication device has reached a first thermal level in which only circuit switching services are available, detecting that the second subscription is out of service in response to determining that the mobile communication device has reached the first thermal level, determining whether a current temperature exceeds, beyond a threshold, a temperature at a time of a previous scan for an available network for the second subscription, and waiting a first period of time before scanning for the available network for the second subscription, in response to determining that the current temperature exceeds, beyond the threshold, the temperature at the time of the previous scan.

  • Publication number: 20080250500
Abstract: Detection of a man-in-the-middle attack. In particular implementations, a method includes detecting a first event comprising notification of an invalid wireless management frame operable to cause a termination of a connection between a wireless client and a wireless access point, wherein the notification is based on a failed verification of a management integrity code (MIC) appended to the wireless management frame. The method also includes detecting a second event involving notification of either an authentication failure associated with the wireless client or a connection between the wireless client and a rogue access point. The method also includes performing one or more actions upon detection of the first event and the second event within a threshold period of time of each other.

  • Patent number: 7000021
Abstract: Systems and methods for retransmitting unsuccessfully transmitted data across a communication link. The retransmission mechanism may be applied to point to multipoint networks including wireless networks. Each packet is encapsulated in an ARQ frame and assigned a sequence number for the purpose of coordinating acknowledgments and retransmissions. Information as to which packets require retransmission is communicated in the form of a bitmap where each bit indicates an acknowledgment status for a given packet. Any missing packets in the received sequence are assumed to require retransmission.
