Abstract: A method and a system for providing location information are provided. A location server receives a request for location information for the mobile station. The request includes an identifier for the mobile station. The location server determines whether the mobile station is at an enclosing location object by searching a location server database in response to the request. When the location server determines that the mobile station is at the enclosing location object, the location server obtains the enclosing location object from the location server database independent of a location request being sent to the mobile station, and provides the enclosing location object as the location of the mobile station. A sensor can be used to determine whether the mobile station is at the enclosing location object, and the location server database can be updated based on the sensor information.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for allocating usage of network resources in a communication network. In an embodiment, a quality of service profile assigned to a user account is established where the user account comprises user information for a first wireless device and a second wireless device. A first usage request from the first wireless device is received and registered for access to the communication network. Use of the communication network is allocated to the first wireless device based upon the quality of service profile. A second usage request is received and registered from the second wireless device for access to the communication network. Use of the communications network is allocated to the second wireless device based upon the quality of service profile and the use of the communication network by the first wireless device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for establishing a communication session between a first and second communication device. A request may be received for a communication session from the first communication device, the request indicating a language for media streams transmitted to, and received from, the first communication device. A communication session invitation specifying a plurality of languages supported for the communication session may be transmitted to the second communication device. A response may be received, from the second communication device, indicating a language for media streams transmitted to, and received from, the second communication device. The communication session, between the first and second communications devices may be established such that the media streams transmitted to, and received from, the first and second communications device are in a language indicated by the first and second communications devices respectively.

Abstract: Systems and methods for allowing transmission of tones by a push-to-talk (PTT) communication station are provided. The communication station can decouple the PTT button of the PTT communication station, allowing the transmission of the tones without actuating the PTT button. The decoupling can be performed in response to receipt of an unsolicited floor grant message. The communication station can also receive an input selection and automatically transmit a floor request message, a tone corresponding to the input selection and a floor release message.

Abstract: Systems and methods for voice interaction with non-voice enabled web pages and browsers are provided. A communication unit that does not provide for voice enabled web browsing can be provided with a hardware and/or software plug-in. The plug-in can receive non-voice enabled web pages, receive voice from a user of the communication unit and provide the voice to a speech recognition server. The plug-in receives corresponding text from the speech recognition server and provides the text to a non-voice enabled web browser to fill-in form fields with the corresponding text.

Abstract: A method and system for aggregate registration and transparent data notification to services during IMS registration. A network entity, such as Serving Call Session Control Function (S-CSCF) may receive an aggregate registration request that includes a plurality of service identifiers and associated service-specific data sets. The aggregate registration request is sent by a user agent or other similar program on behalf of a user. The network entity then sends a notification to each particular service of the plurality of services, including in each notification the service-specific data set for the particular service. The user may thus supply service-specific data to each service during IMS registration, obviating the need for the user to directly and separately contact each service for the purpose of supplying service-specific data.

Abstract: Systems and methods for enforcing calling restrictions are provided. When a first and second communication station are located in different domains, calling restrictions for a first communication station can be based on a current geographic location of the second communication station. The calling restrictions can be enforced independent of an address/identifier of the first or second communication station. The calling restrictions can be based on the current geographic locations of the first and second communication stations and the allowed geographic area of the first communication station.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for floor control in a multi-media dispatch network is disclosed. The method includes receiving a floor request message related to a first media type at a dispatch network controller from a first user and receiving a floor grant request message related to a second media type at the dispatch network controller from the first user. The apparatus includes a dispatch network controller where the dispatch network controller receives a floor request message related to a first media type from a first user and receives a floor grant request message related to a second media type from the first user.

Abstract: A method and computer-readable medium for controlling roaming restrictions for dispatch calling of a mobile station in a network are provided. A home location register receives a dispatch application processor identifier and a mobile station identifier. The domain in which the dispatch application processor is located may be determined by the home location register, based upon the dispatch application processor identifier. A determination can be made whether the mobile station is authorized to operate in the domain, based upon the mobile station identifier. If the mobile station is not authorized to operate in the domain, the mobile station is prevented from operating in the domain. On the other hand, if the mobile station is authorized to operate in the domain, the operation of the mobile station may be allowed, but restricted to certain predetermined calling features.

Abstract: Push-to-talk private call pre-emption may be applied in an application-to-person context or on a person-to-person context. A PTT subscriber may send a PTT server a pre-emption request indicating a desire to interrupt the application voice stream or another PTT subscriber, respectively. In an application-to-person context, the PTT server may revoke the floor from the application server and grant the floor to the requesting device. In a person-to-person context, the PTT server may send the other PTT subscriber a floor release request. Once the subscriber with the PTT floor releases it in response to the floor release request, the PTT server will be able to send an open floor signal back to the requesting subscriber.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for floor control in a multi-media push-to-talk network is disclosed. A device for communication in the multi-media network includes a floor request sensor. The floor request sensor includes a first sensor and a second sensor. The method includes sending a floor grant request message for a first media type in a multi-media dispatch communication session and a floor request message for a second media type in the multi-media dispatch communication session by a floor request sensor of a communications device to a dispatch network controller.

Abstract: A system and method for providing an user the ability to roam onto a peer Integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN) Network. An iGW supports the passing of Dispatch registration information back to the users home network. The iGW will also support and assist in setting up Dispatch Calls between the two iDEN Networks, and vice versa. Exemplary embodiments of the present invention also support roaming from another technology that supports Dispatch Services, where if a iDEN subscriber with a dual mode phone (i.e., iDEN & GSM), was to roam onto another carrier with a different technology but with Dispatch capabilities, the iDEN subscriber is able to register on the roaming carrier's network. The iGW is capable of receiving the registration update from the roaming network and updating the iDEN Network with the location of the iDEN Subscriber.

The systems and methods can include servers and communication units that operate according to the Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) standard. A user of a communication unit can select a guaranteed talk permit with forced audio answer mode, and provide an indication of the answer mode to a PoC server. When the PoC server does not support a guaranteed talk permit with forced audio answer mode, this indication can be for a manual answer mode. Alternatively, the indication can be for a guaranteed talk permit with forced audio answer mode. In this case, a terminating communication unit is contacted during the dispatch communication setup even when the communication setup request is set to manual answer override.

The non-communication address objects can be, for example, items on a shopping list or items on a task list. An application server can receive an unstructured list of non-communication address objects and generate a structured list. The application server sends a request to a group server to create a group that includes non-communication address objects. The group server generates a globally unique group identification and then distributes the globally unique group identification to members of the group.

Abstract: A system and method for predefined dispatch talk group calls are provided. A first and second dispatch communication network use different dispatch station identifiers. Dispatch station identifiers in the format of the first network are stored in the dispatch communication server of the first network, dispatch station identifiers of the second network are stored in a dispatch communication server of the second network, and a group server of the second network includes a mapping of the dispatch station identifiers between the two networks. Providing the mapping of dispatch station identifiers in the second network allows predefined dispatch group calls between communication stations of different dispatch communication networks without requiring any changes to the addressing used in one of the dispatch communication networks.
