  • Patent number: 5362487
Abstract: A single formula, mild permanent wave reducing composition and method of permanently waving or reshaping human hair that provides a strong, long lasting curl and leaves the hair soft while minimizing further damage to already damaged hair. The composition contains a cysteamine reducing agent compound selected from the group consisting of cysteamine, a cysteamine salt, and mixtures thereof; and a second reducing agent selected from the group consisting of a monothioglycolate; an alkanolamine salt of thioglycolic acid; a thiolactic acid; a thioglycolic acid; thioglycerin; salts of thiolactic acid; cysteine; a salt of cysteine; a sulfite; a hyposulfite; and a bisulfite. The cysteamine compound should be present in an amount of about 7.8% to about 9% by weight; and sufficient additional alkali, if necessary, to bring the pH of the composition to about 7.8 to about 8.8.

  • Patent number: 5260054
Abstract: A single formula, mild permanent wave reducing composition and method of permanently waving or reshaping human hair that provides a strong, long lasting curl and leaves the hair soft while minimizing further damage to already damaged hair. The composition contains a cysteamine reducing agent compound selected from the group consisting of cysteamine, a cysteamine salt, and mixtures thereof; preferably alone (without a monothioglycolate; a monothioglycolic acid ester, e.g., thioglycerol; a thiolactic acid; a sulfite; a hyposulfite, or a bisulfite second reducing agent). The cysteamine compound should be present in an amount of about 7.8% to about 9.0% by weight; and sufficient additional alkali, if necessary, to bring the pH of the composition to about 7.8 to about 8.5. Optionally, a hair softening and/or moisturizing agent, such as glycerine is included in the composition in an amount of about 0.1% to about 15% by weight of the composition.

  • Patent number: 5223252
Abstract: A mild, alkaline permanent wave reducing composition and method of permanently waving or reshaping human hair that provides a strong, long lasting curl like an alkaline permanent wave composition but leaves the hair soft like an acid permanent wave composition and leaves essentially no post-perm odor. The composition contains about 2.0% to about 6.5% by weight of a cysteine reducing agent compound selected from the group consisting of cysteine, a cysteine salt, and mixtures thereof; about 4.5% to about 8.0% of a thioglycolate; and sufficient additional alkali, if necessary, to bring the pH of the composition within the rang of about 7.5 to about 9.5.

  • Patent number: 5000948
Abstract: A hair-waving product comprises a polyurethane film containing a hair-waving composition which is released from the polyurethane film when the film is contacted with wet hair. The invention also relates to a process of hair waving comprising rolling the polyurethane film into wet hair and allowing sufficient hair-waving treatment time to release the hair-waving composition.

  • Patent number: 4398654
Abstract: An aerosol dispensing device for a three phase system which dispenses the product in a uniform fine mist at a high spray rate. The aerosol device generally comprises an aqueous liquid phase, a non-aqueous liquified propellant forming a liquid phase and a vapor phase of the propellant, and diptube which is impervious to the aqueous phase, and the vapor phase, but passes the non-aqueous liquid phase. The aqueous phase passes through the lower end of the diptube.
