  • Publication number: 20240376660
Abstract: A combination washer and dryer appliance includes a cabinet, a drum housing and a drum with a drum wall that defines a laundry compartment. A drying air circulation path extends from an inlet positioned a drum wall to an outlet positioned in fluid communication with the laundry compartment. A filter coil is disposed adjacent to the drying air inlet. A condensing system includes the filter coil located on the drum wall at the drying air inlet and a second coil located in the cabinet and outside of the drying air circulation path. The filter coil and second coil are arranged in fluid communication and containing a heat-transfer fluid such that the filter coil acts as both a lint filter. A condenser dehumidifies drying air entering the drying air inlet and such that the second coil acts as a heat exchanger for transferring heat to ambient air located inside the cabinet.

  • Publication number: 20240175197
Abstract: Selecting cycle modifiers for a clothes dryer is provided. Responsive to a requested cycle of operation for drying a load and a previous cycle being the same cycle type, and further responsive to historical information for the previous cycle indicating positive user feedback that dryness of the load was correct, cycle modifiers corresponding to the requested cycle are applied, and the clothes dryer is operated without soliciting further user feedback. Responsive to the requested cycle and the previous cycle being different cycle types, or responsive to the historical information for the previous cycle indicating negative user feedback that the dryness of the load was incorrect, apply the cycle modifiers corresponding to the requested cycle, operate the clothes dryer, and solicit further user feedback with respect to the cycle of operation of the clothes dryer to update cycle modifiers for use in future cycles of the same cycle of operation.

  • Patent number: 11821124
Abstract: A washer and dryer combination appliance including a housing, a drum positioned in the housing, and a dynamic, expandable seal positioned between the drum and the housing. A laundry compartment inside the drum is accessible through openings in the front of the housing and drum. The drum has a rear wall with perforations that permit air to flow into the laundry compartment. An air gap is located between the rear of the housing and the rear wall of the drum. The dynamic, expandable seal, is actuatable between a retracted position and an extended position. In the extended position, the dynamic, expandable seal extends across the air gap to direct airflow through the perforations in the rear wall of the drum. In the retracted position, the dynamic, expandable seal is spaced away from the drum and therefore does not add any drag on the drum as the drum rotates.

  • Patent number: 11802360
Abstract: A fluid flow system for a laundry appliance includes a blower that delivers process air along an airflow path having a heat exchanger. A drain channel receives condensate from the heat exchanger and fluid spray from a spray nozzle for directing lint particles to the drain channel and on to a sump for collecting fluid, including the condensate. A pump seat and a fluid outlet are integrally formed in a sump cover. A pump directs the fluid from the sump to the fluid outlet. A fluid level sensor detects at least minimum and maximum capacities of the fluid in the sump. When the fluid is below the minimum capacity, the pump defines an idle state. When the fluid reaches the minimum capacity, the pump defines an active state. When the fluid exceeds the maximum capacity, the pump directs the fluid to the fluid outlet.
