  • Publication number: 20220159946
Abstract: Disclosed is a refrigerating device that includes: a refrigeration mechanism; and a cooling chamber. The cooling chamber is operatively coupled to the refrigeration mechanism using any or a combination of a latching mechanism and a screwing mechanism, and is configured to hold a load to be cooled. The refrigeration mechanism can be a thermo-electric assembly (TEA) and the device can include a proportional integral derivative (PID) controller to set and regulate temperature inside the cooling chamber. The cooling chamber can be a vacuum flask, open end of the vacuum flask configured to be thermally sealed with the TEA. The vacuum flask provides thermal insulation between the load and ambient environment. In an exemplary embodiment, the vacuum flask can be thermally sealed with the TEA by configuring the TEA in a collar of thermal insulation, the collar configured to hold the vacuum flask by means of threads configured on the collar and the vacuum flask.

  • Publication number: 20160143749
Abstract: A method for implanting a glenoid component during shoulder arthroplasty is disclosed. In the method, a template is placed against a surface of a glenoid cavity of a scapula, and a bone marking tool is inserted through a cut-out guide in the template. The bone marking tool is used to create a bone mark on the surface of the glenoid cavity. A drill is aligned with the bone mark and a first pilot hole is drilled in the surface of the glenoid cavity. A locating pin of a first drill jig is placed in the first pilot hole, and a drill is inserted through a guide hole of the first drill jig to drill a second pilot hole in the surface of the glenoid cavity. Bone material is removed between the first pilot hole and the second pilot hole to create a slot in the surface of the glenoid cavity between the first pilot hole and the second pilot hole. A keel of a glenoid component is positioned in the slot, and the glenoid component is secured in the scapula. A kit is also provided for use with the method.

  • Patent number: 4959054
Abstract: A percutaneous implant device includes a structure for storing a bioreactive agent such as an antimicrobic agent, an anti-inflammatory drug, a growth hormone, and an antifungal drug. The structure can take the form of a container or a solid solution. The percutaneous device has a conduit, and the structure containing the bioreactive agent is disposed under the skin and around the conduit in the vicinity where the conduit passes through the skin of the living host. The structure containing the bioreactive agent is refillable via either a wall which is penetrable and reseals after penetration, or an access opening which can be opened or closed and is accessible from outside the living host. The container can include a wall having a diffusion coefficient which increases the rate of diffusion with increasing local temperature.
