  • Patent number: 11955363
Abstract: A bonding fixture. In some embodiments, the fixture includes: a plate for supporting a central region of the wafer, the central region including 80% of the area of the wafer; and a frame for supporting: the edge of the wafer, and the edge of the plate, the frame having: a first vacuum passage, for pulling the wafer against an upper surface of the frame, and a second vacuum passage, for pulling the plate against the frame.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 11, 2022
Date of Patent: April 9, 2024
    Assignee: Rockley Photonics Limited
Inventors: Moshe Amit, Chia-Te Chou, Arvind Jaikumar

  • Patent number: 11073340
Abstract: A method and apparatus for pool boiling includes introducing a fluid into a chamber of a housing which has one or more protruding features. One or more diverters extend at least partially across the one or more protruding features in the chamber. One or more bubbles are formed in the fluid in the chamber as a result of bubble nucleation. At least one of growth and motion of the one or more of the bubbles are diverted with the one or more diverters to generate additional localized motion of the fluid along at least one of the one or more protruding features and other surfaces in the chamber of the housing to at least of transfer additional heat to the liquid and increase the critical heal flux limit.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 11, 2019
Date of Patent: July 27, 2021
    Assignee: Rochester Institute of Technology
Inventors: Satish G. Kandlikar, Aranya Chauhan, Travis Emery, Arvind Jaikumar, Pruthvik Raghupathi
  • Patent number: 10473410
Abstract: A boiling heat transfer unit includes a substrate having a heat exchange region including a plurality of nucleating regions adjacent to feeder channels, wherein adjacent nucleating regions are separated by the feeder channels at a distance whereby vapor formed in the nucleating regions is moved away from the nucleating regions influencing liquid flow through the feeder channels towards the nucleating regions thereby establishing continuous self-sustaining separate vapor and liquid pathways increasing heat transfer due to developing region heat transfer in the feeder channels and enhancing overall boiling performance.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 12, 2019
    Assignee: Rochester Institute of Technology
