  • Patent number: 7140923
Abstract: An electrical connector that has a housing including a connecting interface adapted to connect with a mating electrical connector. A plurality of first contacts are coupled to the connecting interface. Each of the first contacts include opposite first and second end sections, and a plurality of second contacts coupled to the connecting interface. Each of the second contacts include opposite first and second end sections. The first end sections of the first contacts being axially aligned with the first end sections of the second contacts, and the second end sections of the first contacts being laterally offset from the second end sections of the second contacts.

  • Patent number: 7033227
Abstract: The present invention is related to an adapter or connector receptacle intended to mate with a plug. The receptacle includes a housing forming a passage for accepting a plug body therein during an insertion of the plug into the passage. An interference projection is mounted in and extends into the passage, the projection having a front side facing approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the plug. When during insertion of the plug into the passage, if one of the plug electrical contacts is misaligned such that its distal end is too low, the electrical contact will impact the front side of the interference projection and be deflected upward or prevent the plug from being inserted into the receptacle to avoid damaging the receptacle contacts.

  • Patent number: 6887110
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a modular jack or RJ connector incorporated into a multi-port arrangement for use as an input/output interface connector for computers and the like. The multi-port connector comprises a single housing having a plurality of openings therein. Each opening is formed to provide at least two connecting ports to receive two corresponding plugs therein. Thus, the opening is formed without a dividing wall separating the two connecting ports. The removal of the dividing wall allows more connecting ports to be incorporated into the multi-port connector without increasing the size of its footprint.

  • Patent number: 6017245
Abstract: A shielding arrangement for an connector includes a housing made up of a base and front shield stamped and formed from a single blank to provide shielding continuity between the front shield and a cable gripping section of the base. A cover is arranged to be secured to the base using only two screws, the cover being secured to the base by interengaging tabs at the front of the cover, the two screws, and an injection molded plastic insulator that fits over the assembled base and cover and that includes retention for jackscrews using interference holes on two sides of the insulator and provision for securing a separate strain relief.
