    Abstract: Methods and systems are described for managing a distributed ledger. A user may manage permissions and other settings for devices associated with an account by adding transactions to the distributed ledger. Versions of the distributed ledger may be stored by the devices. A master version of the distributed ledger may be managed by a ledger node configured to add data blocks to the master version of the ledger. A consensus process may be used to determine an approved version of the distributed ledger if a condition, such as an error condition or an inconsistency, is detected for the distributed ledger.

Based on the distributed ledger entry, access to the destination device may be granted to the user device.

The request may comprise a public key of the user device. The request may comprise a digital certificate, wherein the digital certificate may comprise the public key of the user device. A distributed database address of the user device may be determined by applying a deterministic function to the public key of the user device. A distributed database entry may comprise the address of the user device. A distributed database entry may be generated, wherein the distributed database entry may comprise the address of the user device. Based on the address of the user device, access to the network device may be granted to the user device.
