  • Publication number: 20240328401
Abstract: Reversible shape memory polymer bilayer actuators comprised of an active polyPOSS (PP) layer and a passive KAPTON layer. The PP is a unique polymeric composition which maintains its mechanical properties and coefficient of thermal expansion at elevated temperatures while adhering to the KAPTON layer. The actuator is durable to extreme conditions such as elevated temperatures and corrosive environments and maintains motion accuracy at the ?m-scale.

  • Publication number: 20220065232
Abstract: Resistive heating elements are embedded in a shape memory polymer actuator. Sensing elements are associated with the resistive heating elements. The sensing elements sense changes in the resistive heating elements and correlate the changes with deformation of the shape memory polymer actuator.
