  • Publication number: 20160283328
Abstract: A snapshot of selected objects in a source repository is created in response to the user-initiated replication. The snapshot is designated as a snapshot replication job. Unsynchronized objects in a target destination are detected by comparing a state of the selected objects in the snapshot with a current state of the target destination at the time of execution of the snapshot replication job. One of the selected objects is retrieved in an ordered manner from the snapshot. An object identification (ID) and a state ID are sent to the target destination and used to locate and compare the selected object with a current state of the selected object in the target destination.

  • Patent number: 9430542
Abstract: A snapshot of selected objects in a source repository is created in response to the user-initiated replication. The snapshot is designated as a snapshot replication job. The snapshot replication job is added to the end of a replication queue to await execution for the synchronized object replication. Unsynchronized objects in a target destination are detected by comparing a state of the selected objects in the snapshot with a current state of the target destination at the time of execution of the snapshot replication job. The unsynchronized objects in the target destination are synchronized based upon the comparison of the state of the selected objects in the snapshot with the current state of the target destination at the time of execution of the snapshot replication job.

  • Publication number: 20160203161
Abstract: A unique file-system node identification (ID) is created for each newly created node in a file system repository by combining a grid identification (ID), a repository identification (ID), and a node identification (ID) to form the unique file-system node ID. The unique file-system node ID is associated with a unique association identification (ID) thereby linking the node from a source repository to a target repository to form an association when performing a replication operation between the source repository and the target repository. Upon removing the association, the unique association ID is unlinked from a replication policy in a source repository, where an initiated replication operation is disabled.

The unique file-system node ID is associated with a unique association identification (ID) for creating an association for linking the node from a source repository to a target repository when performing a replication operation between a repository and another repository. The different replication instances of the node in the file system repository are distinguished by the unique association ID assigned to each of the replication instances.

  • Patent number: 9201605
Abstract: A calculated factoring ratio is determined as a weighted ratio of current nominal data to physical data based on at least one storage capacity threshold and a used storage space currently physically consumed by one of backup and replication data. A maximal nominal estimated space in the computing storage environment is calculated. A remaining space, defined as the maximal nominal estimated space minus a current nominal space in the computing storage environment, is calculated.

  • Patent number: 9031911
Abstract: For preserving past states of file system nodes, selective tuple versioning on a file system table is used by adding a bitmap to a row for a node within a file system table for preserving the past state of the node in a file system. A request is received for updating the node along with a node identification and associated attributes of the node needing to be updated. A second time value indicating the time of the updating is generated. The row for the node is duplicated into a new row in the file system table with an end time set equal to the second time value if the bit in the bitmap for the node is set. The row associated with the node is updated according to the update request.

  • Patent number: 8972350
Abstract: Selective tuple versioning is used on a file system providing file system snapshots using selective tuple versioning for maintaining the state of the file system. The selective tuple versioning works by adding a snapshot table to associate with a file system table by storing a timestamp and a snapshot identification (ID) relating to a snapshot created for preserving past nodes in the file system.

  • Patent number: 8918605
Abstract: A deduplication storage capacity is estimated as a function of an expected deduplication ratio, the expected deduplication ratio being a combined average of a current deduplication ratio and a configured deduplication ratio, the current deduplication ratio depending on the data currently stored in the deduplication storage, and the configured deduplication ratio being an estimate made at a configuration stage of the deduplication computing storage environment.

  • Patent number: 8891473
Abstract: Various embodiments for deduplicated data processing congestion control in a computing environment are provided. In one such embodiment, a congestion target setpoint is calculated using one of a proportional constant, an integral constant, and a derivative constant, wherein the congestion target setpoint is a virtual dimension setpoint. A single congestion metric is determined from a sampling of a plurality of combined deduplicated data processing congestion statistics in a number of active deduplicated data processes. A congestion limit is calculated from a comparison of the single congestion metric to the congestion target setpoint, the congestion limit being a manipulated variable. The congestion limit is compared to the number of active deduplicated data processes. If the number of active deduplicated data processes are less than the congestion limit, a new deduplicated data process of the number of active deduplicated data processes is spawned.

  • Patent number: 8886908
Abstract: A management of capacity types with different consumption policies for an object in a computing storage system is performed by updating a reference type bitmap in a segment-fragment table containing segments that reference fragments upon the creation of a segment for an object. A reference is created in an object-segment reference table, between the object and the segment, in compliance with a consumption policy upon the creation of one of the segments for the object. The reference types that reference the segment are removed upon deletion of the segment.

  • Publication number: 20140304476
Abstract: For maintaining consistency for a cache that contains dependent objects in a computing environment, object dependencies for cached objects are managed by defining and maintaining object dependency lists for each one of the cached objects for identifying objects upon which the cached objects are dependent. Maintaining cache consistency for 2 types of cache eviction policies is supported by maintaining an object dependency lists for each one of the cached objects for identifying objects dependent upon the cached object. Each of the objects in an object dependency list is updated when the object is updated.

  • Patent number: 8819059
Abstract: In one exemplary embodiment, a DSM is used to store the data structures in a cluster shared memory, such that updates, deletions and insertions are applied to both the persistent data set and the DSM, and search, list and retrieval operations are processed directly from the DSM. A data structure in the persistent data set is stored in two separate DSM pages: a first page includes an identifying search key of the data structure, the search key also pointing to a location of the data structure in the storage. A second page includes the updatable properties of the data structure. A DSM storing the data structures' pages is organized as a two-row matrix.
