  • Publication number: 20240079661
Abstract: A battery cell monitoring system includes a battery cell monitoring unit, including a controller, a battery monitoring sensor, and a radiofrequency (RF) signal manager electrically connected to a first RF antenna via a transmission link, wherein the transmission link includes an adaptive tuning circuit; and a battery management system in communication with a second RF antenna. The battery monitoring sensor is arranged to monitor a parameter of a battery cell, the RF signal manager generates a signal having a parametric component and a control component, wherein the control component dynamically controls the adaptive tuning circuit, and the RF signal manager wirelessly communicates the signal between the battery cell monitoring unit and the battery management system via the first RF antenna and the second RF antenna.

  • Publication number: 20230187712
Abstract: An enclosed electrical device such as a battery pack for an electric powertrain system includes an enclosure having a tray and cover. The tray and cover together define an enclosure cavity. A radio frequency (RF) receiving node is located within the cavity. Printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) include an RF transmitting node. The PCBAs(s) are spaced apart from one another within the cavity. An RF shield guide layer is positioned between the PCBAs and the cover, such that the RF shield guide layer covers the PCBAs without covering the RF transmitting node. A battery pack and an electric powertrain system include the RF shield guide layer.

  • Patent number: 11525863
Abstract: A rechargeable energy storage system and a method of manufacturing includes a battery pack having a battery cell module assembly with an interconnect board disposed between and physically connecting the battery cells with the cell monitoring unit, and a module cover at least partially enclosing the battery cells, the cell monitoring unit, and the interconnect board. The battery pack has relatively high and relatively low loss regions for radio frequency signal communication. A radio frequency manager is wirelessly connectable to the cell monitoring unit by radio frequency signal communication. A signal directing component is operable for transmitting and/or receiving a radio frequency signal between the cell monitoring unit and the radio frequency manager, is configured to direct the radio frequency signal to the relatively low loss region, and is integrated in one of the module cover, the interconnect board, or the radio frequency manager.
