  • Patent number: 9930507
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for managing termination of an active communication session in a wireless communication device. A processor of the wireless communication device may receive an instruction to terminate a communication session. The processor may determine whether an emergency communication status of the wireless communication device indicates that the communication session should not be terminated. The processor may block the instruction to terminate the communication session in response to determining that the emergency communication status indicates that the communication session comprises an emergency communication session.

  • Publication number: 20130244608
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide devices, methods, and systems for use in emergency call situation. For example, in one embodiment, a mobile wireless device transmits a registration message upon an end of an emergency callback mode, which takes place after an emergency call made while the mobile device is in airplane mode, to ensure that the network is aware of the active status of the mobile device. This way, the user of the mobile device can receive all incoming calls after the cessation of the emergency callback mode, relieving the user of the inconvenience of being unaware of their inability to receive incoming calls. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

  • Patent number: 8428239
Abstract: A method for playing a local ringback tone is disclosed. A second party device is called from a calling party device. An alert message indicating that the calling party device is to play a network ringback tone is received. It is determined whether to play a pre-stored local ringback tone instead of the network ringback tone. The local ringback tone or the network ringback tone is played based on the determination. At any time before call connection or call release, the local ringback tone and the network ringback tone are switched between based on user input.
