  • Patent number: 8706858
Abstract: A management task data storage capability is provided for facilitating storage of management task data within a database of a management system, such as a network management system that is managing network elements of a telecommunication network. In one embodiment, the management task data storage capability controls storage of management tasks within a database of a management system based on respective priority levels associated with groups of network devices from which the management tasks are received.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 14, 2011
Date of Patent: April 22, 2014
    Assignee: Alcatel Lucent

  • Publication number: 20130110757
Abstract: A method and system for analyzing attribute change impact within a managed network by analyzing an attribute modification according to one or more rules to determine thereby a negative impact level associated with the attribute modification, where the rules include rules initially identified as relevant to the attribute and rules deterministically identified as relevant to said attribute.

  • Publication number: 20100268807
Abstract: Various exemplary embodiments relate to a network management system (NMS) and a method performed on the NMS including one or more of the following: receiving a notification of a new endpoint discovered in the network, the new endpoint representing an endpoint in a multi-chassis pair; determining that an address of the new endpoint conflicts with an address of a first existing endpoint of an existing multi-chassis pair, wherein the first existing endpoint is currently paired with a second existing endpoint; determining whether the new endpoint or the first existing endpoint is a proper endpoint of the existing multi-chassis pair; and when the new endpoint is the proper endpoint of the existing multi-chassis pair, updating the data representing the topology in the storage module to replace the first existing endpoint with the new endpoint as paired with the second existing endpoint.

  • Publication number: 20090265450
Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing resources of a management system is provided. The management system is adapted for managing a network having a plurality of network devices. In one embodiment, the method includes the steps of grouping the network devices into a plurality of network device groups based on at least one characteristic associated with each of the network devices, and allocating respective portions of the resources of the management system to the network device groups. The at least one characteristic of each network device is indicative of an importance of the network device to the provider. The resources are allocated to the network device groups based on the respective importance of each of the network device groups to the provider.

  • Publication number: 20030115308
Abstract: A new architecture for deploying network management and service provisioning solutions is provided. The new architecture includes the provision of a framework implementing a software development methodology for coding complex software applications relating to network management and service provisioning. The software development methodology results in software application code that is easy to: understand, debug, extend, test, and deploy while still being efficient when used in real time. The methodology includes the coding, compiling and linking of a single managed object class. The managed object class is used to model and represent different data network entities in accordance with attributes held therein. The methodology further makes use of a network management and service provisioning specific grammar used by a parser associated with the framework to read a body of attribute files associated with the data network entities.
