  • Patent number: 7311494
Abstract: A centrifugal fan assembly including a housing having a lower surface and a parallel inlet wall that defines an inlet opening. A shaft is supported by the housing for rotating about an axis. A plurality of fan blades are disposed about the shaft and extend radially from the axis for drawing air axially into the fan blades and blowing air radially outwardly. The housing defines a scroll wall that spirals about the axis and defines an outlet air passage that extends substantially tangentially to the axis. The fan blades include extensions that extend through the inlet opening and outside of the inlet wall.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 8, 2005
Date of Patent: December 25, 2007
    Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.
Inventors: Ashraf Farag, Steven C. Guzy

  • Patent number: 7048035
Abstract: A casing for a heat exchange system defines a blower compartment (18), an evaporator compartment (20), and a diffuser (22). The diffuser (22) defines an exit (28) and an entry area in a cutoff plane (30). A vane wall (38) curves inwardly from the diffuser (22) and includes a plurality of parallel vanes (46), (48), (50), and (52). The plurality of vanes (46), (48), (50), and (52) include a first vane (46) and a second vane (48).

  • Patent number: 6368207
Abstract: An HVAC housing includes a novel structure to aid the mixing of hot and cold air downstream of the evaporator and heater core. A series of space, parallel, C shaped channels running transverse to the cold air stream and generally in line with the hot air stream act to smoothly constrict the cold air stream in the gaps between the outer surfaces of the channels, while hot air concurrently runs through the inside of the channels. As the cold air passes over the edges of the channel walls, hot air is drawn out and thoroughly mixed.
