Patent number: 11721338Abstract: A method, computer system, and a computer program product for context-based wake word threshold modification is provided. The present invention may include receiving an audio data generated by a computing device operating in a sleep mode. The present invention may include processing the received audio data to determine a context associated with a user of the computing device. The present invention may include in response to detecting a potential wake word in the received audio data, calculating a wake word confidence score associated with an accuracy of the detected potential wake word. The present invention may include retrieving a wake word threshold, wherein the wake word threshold is determined based on the context associated with the user of the computing device. The present invention may include, in response to the calculated wake word confidence score exceeding the retrieved wake word threshold, activating a wake mode of the computing device.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2020Date of Patent: August 8, 2023Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Shikhar Kwatra, Zachary A. Silverstein, Robert Huntington Grant, Ashraf Mahmoud Mohamed Ahmed Awwad

Patent number: 11503526Abstract: A method, a computer program product, and a computer system predictively compensate for expected audio communication issues. The method includes determining conditions of a first device associated with a user. The method includes determining, based on the conditions, a first signal strength to a first network that the first device is currently connected in which to perform a communication and a second signal strength to a second network that the first device is configured to utilize in performing the communication. As a result of each of the first signal strength and the second signal strength not satisfying a minimum threshold individually, the method includes generating an overall signal having an overall signal strength by layering the first network over the second network. The overall signal strength has a comparatively greater signal strength than the first signal strength and the second signal strength. The method includes performing the communication using the overall signal.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2020Date of Patent: November 15, 2022Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Shikhar Kwatra, Ashraf Mahmoud Mohamed Ahmed Awwad, Adam Lee Griffin, Craig M. Patent number: 11112245Abstract: An Acousto-Optic Gyroscope (AOG) consisting of a photonic integrated device embedded into two inherently matched piezoelectric surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonators sharing the same acoustic cavity is disclosed. The micromachined strain-based AOG uses the effective index of the optical waveguide due to the acousto-optic effect rather than conventional displacement sensing.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2018Date of Patent: September 7, 2021Assignee: CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITYInventors: Gianluca Piazza, Mohamed Mahmoud, Ashraf Mahmoud, Lutong Cai, Md Shofiqul Islam Khan, Tamal Mukherjee, James Bain

Publication number: 20130133063Abstract: The tunneling-based method of bypassing Internet access denial allows for the re-routing of communication between a local system and a destination system when the local system's Internet Protocol (IP) address has been blocked by a malicious higher-tier Internet service provider (ISP). If it is determined that the local system is blocked from communicating with the destination system, then it is determined if a malicious higher-tier ISP is responsible for the blockage of service. If the local system is blocked by the ISP, then the ISP is identified and communication is established between the local system and a neighboring system that is not blocked by the ISP. Finally, communications are then transmitted from the local system to the destination system, through the established tunnel, by first transmitting from the local system to the neighboring system, and then transmitting from the neighboring system through the ISP to the destination system.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 22, 2011Publication date: May 23, 2013Applicants: KING ABDULAZIZ CITY FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, KING FAHD UNIVERSITY OF PETROLEUM AND MINERALSInventors: MARWAN H.
