Publication number: 20180328281Abstract: A turbocharger has a meridionally divided turbine housing defining a first scroll and a first nozzle, and a second scroll and a second nozzle. The first and second nozzles are divided from each other by a shroud plate mounted within the nozzle, for isolating the exhaust gas streams flowing through the two nozzles from each other. A plurality of circumferentially spaced vanes are rotatably mounted at a radially inner side of the nozzles. Leading-edge portions of the vanes are slotted to receive the shroud plate when the vanes are pivoted open. Trailing-edge portions of the vanes are unslotted. A radially inner periphery of the shroud plate includes cutouts for abutting the trailing-edge portions of the vanes in the closed position, and includes contour portions for influencing a flow separation ratio of the turbine.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 6, 2018Publication date: November 15, 2018Applicant: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Filip Eckl, Petr Pribyl, Petr Skara, Pavel Foucek, Ashraf Mohamed

Publication number: 20180300440Abstract: Aspects of the disclosed technology relate to techniques for protocol analysis during a circuit design verification process. A protocol-specific message capture unit captures messages while or after being transmitted over one or more communication channels between a circuit design model and one or more target devices. A protocol-independent interface unit receives signals carrying the messages and information for processing the messages from the protocol-specific message capture unit. After processing the messages, the protocol-independent interface unit sends the messages to an analysis unit for analyzing the messages based on a protocol file. The analysis unit may then output the messages for displaying.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2018Publication date: October 18, 2018Inventors: Mahmoud Mohamed Ali, Mohamed Abdelsalam Ahmed Hassan, Ashraf Mohamed Salem, Robert John Bloor

Patent number: 9834892Abstract: The pneumatic roadway energy recovery system generates power from the weight of vehicles, pedestrians and the like traveling on a roadway surface. The pneumatic roadway energy recovery system includes a plurality of pneumatic pumps in fluid communication with one another and that are arrayed beneath a roadway surface. The pneumatic pumps are in fluid communication with a storage tank. The vehicles, pedestrians and the like traveling on the roadway surface compress the plurality of pneumatic pumps as they pass over the pumps, generating pressurized air, which is received by and stored in the storage tank. Preferably, a turbine, such as a Pelton wheel or the like, is in fluid communication with the storage tank. Selective release of the pressurized air in the storage tank drives the turbine, which, in turn, is connected to an electrical generator for generating usable electrical power.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2015Date of Patent: December 5, 2017Assignee: KING FAHD UNIVERSITY OF PETROLEUM AND MINERALSInventor: Ashraf Mohamed Samir Farahat
