  • Patent number: 11389771
Abstract: Asymmetric composite membranes and methods for their preparation are disclosed. The membranes comprise a cross-linked poly(vinyl alcohol) polymer coated on a film of cross-linked sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) adhered to a sheet of hydrophilicitized microporous polyolefin. The microporous polyolefin is typically microporous poly(ethylene). The membranes have improved selectivity with the regard to the rejection of solutes in reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration applications.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 3, 2016
Date of Patent: July 19, 2022
    Assignee: HYDROXSYS HOLDINGS LIMITED
Inventors: Lenka Benacek Craft, Mark Exley, Ashveen Vikash Nand, Dylan Townshend Gifford
  • Publication number: 20220193620
Abstract: Durable asymmetric composite membranes comprising of a film of cross-linked poly(ether ether ketone) adhered to a sheet of hydrophilicitized microporous polyolefin are disclosed. The membranes are suitable for use in the recovery or removal of water from feed streams where repeated clean-in-place protocols are required such as in the processing of dairy products. The membranes are also suitable for use in the preparation of durable asymmetric composite membranes with improved rejection characteristics.

Inventors: Lenka Benacek CRAFT, Mark EXLEY, Ashveen Vikash NAND
  • Patent number: 11291215
Abstract: Durable asymmetric composite membranes consisting essentially of a film of cross-linked sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) adhered to a sheet of hydrophilicitized microporous poly(ethylene) are disclosed. The membranes have application in the recovery of water from feed streams where the ability to clean in situ is desirable, for example in dairy processing. Methods of preparing cross-linked sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) suitable for use as the rejection layer and hydrophilicitized sheets of microporous poly(ethylene) suitable for use as the support layer of such membranes are also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 11, 2019
Date of Patent: April 5, 2022
    Assignee: HYDROXSYS HOLDINGS LIMITED
Inventors: Daryl Joseph Briggs, Lenka Benacek Craft, Ashveen Vikash Nand, Mark Exley
