Patent number: 9751032Abstract: Duplex fluid strainers, systems and methods are provided, and include a housing with a first valve chamber defining an inlet port, a first port, and a second port, and a second valve chamber defining a third port, a fourth port, and an outlet port. The first and third ports communicate with a first strainer chamber, and the second and fourth ports communicate with a second strainer. A first seal assembly includes a first disk movable within the first valve chamber into sealing engagement against either of the first port or the second port, and a second seal assembly includes a second disk movable within the second valve chamber into sealing engagement against either of the third port or the fourth port.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2011Date of Patent: September 5, 2017Assignee: TITAN FLOW CONTROL, INCInventor: Ashvin D. Patent number: 9506576Abstract: The present subject matter relates to check valve apparatuses and methods. In particular, the present subject matter relates to a flow control device that can be incorporated into a check valve. The flow control device can include a valve seat configured for positioning within an inlet of a check valve, the valve seat defining an opening, a plurality of flow routing vanes at least partially traversing the opening, and a disk movable between a first position and a second position in response to a fluid pressure. When the disk is in the first position, the disk blocks the opening of the valve seat, and when the disk is in the second position, the opening is substantially unobstructed. The flow routing vanes can function to smooth the flow of fluid into the valve, thereby reducing pressure drop, noise, erosion, corrosion, vibration, and cavitations.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2009Date of Patent: November 29, 2016Assignee: TITAN FLOW CONTROL, INC.Inventor: Ashvin D. Patent number: 8961792Abstract: A fluid strainer is disclosed for use in a fluid piping system, the fluid strainer having a first valve chamber and a second valve chamber. The first valve chamber can have a strainer inlet and contain first and second angled members, and the second valve chamber can have a strainer outlet and contain third and fourth angled members. A first pivotable seal can be movable within the first valve chamber into sealing engagement against either of the first or second angled members, and a second pivotable seal can be movable within the second valve chamber into sealing engagement against either of the third or fourth angled members. A first strainer chamber can be in communication with the first angled member and the third angled member, and a second strainer chamber can be in communication with the second angled member and the fourth angled member.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2011Date of Patent: February 24, 2015Assignee: Titan Flow Control, Inc.Inventor: Ashvin D. Patent number: 5836356Abstract: A dual chamber orifice fitting comprising a first chamber maintained in fluid communication with a pipeline, a fluid flowing in the pipeline passing through the first chamber; a second chamber selectively maintained in fluid communication with the first chamber; a sealing member selectively rotatable from a first position wherein the sealing member seals the first chamber from the second chamber, and a second position wherein the sealing member permits the first chamber to be placed in fluid communication with the second chamber.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1996Date of Patent: November 17, 1998Assignee: Mueller Steam Specialty, a Divison of Core Industries, Inc.Inventor: Ashvin D. Patent number: 5443722Abstract: A duplex strainer for straining material includes a housing, housing inlet port through which material enters the housing under pressure for straining and an outlet port through which strained material exits the housing. The housing includes a first strainer chamber having the first and second ports in separate fluid communication with the housing. A second strainer chamber includes third and fourth ports in separate fluid communication with the housing. The first port opposes the third port and the second port opposes the fourth port. A valve control structure includes a first three-way ball valve disposed within the housing for controlling fluid flow between the first port, third port and the housing. A second three-way ball valve is disposed within the housing to control fluid flow between the housing, second port and fourth port.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1994Date of Patent: August 22, 1995Assignee: Mueller Steam SpecialtyInventors: Ashvin D. Desai, Robert Whritenour

Patent number: 4496463Abstract: A duplex strainer having a housing with an inlet port and a outlet port. st and second strainer chambers each have first and second ports which are in separate fluid communication with the housing. An efficient scotch yoke design coverts rotation of a first shaft into reciprocal lateral displacement of first and second disk assemblies to permit either the first or second strainer chambers to be closed off to flow while the other of the first and second strainer chambers remain open to flow.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1983Date of Patent: January 29, 1985Assignee: Mueller Steam Specialty, A Division of Core Industries, Inc.Inventors: Ashvin D. Desai, Alvin Bujack
