  • Publication number: 20220183311
Abstract: An oil composition containing omega-9 canola oil is disclosed in which the canola oil is stabilized against oxidation. The omega-9 canola oil contains more than 68% oleic acid and less than 4% linolenic acid. In particular embodiments, the oil composition contains 0.1-1.0 weight percent omega-3 fatty acids, which may be DHA, and may contain additional antioxidants, such as tocopherols. Oxidatively resistant oil compositions and food compositions containing omega-9 canola oil with DHA are also disclosed. Methods for increasing the oxidative stability of omega-9 canola oil by addition of DHA are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10718461
Abstract: An inflatable plug for sealing a pipeline includes a tubular member, a first indicator, and a second indicator. The tubular member has an inner surface and an outer surface that extends in an axial direction from a first end to a second end. The tubular member defines a central chamber configured to inflate to a predetermined pressure so that the outer surface of the tubular member expands to contact an inner surface of the pipeline. The contact between the outer surface of the tubular member and the inner surface of the pipeline define a contact length that extends in the axial direction. The first indicator and the second indicator are positioned on the outer surface of the tubular member. The first indicator is spaced from the second indicator in the axial direction by a predetermined length. The predetermined length is substantially equal to the contact length.

  • Patent number: 10578239
Abstract: The present invention relates to an expandable plug structure for use in high pressure applications. The expandable plugs, such as pneumatic plugs, are preferably constructed of a multi-layered, reinforced elastomeric cylindrical body, i.e., of reinforced natural rubber, and having an inflator member at one end. The multi-layers include various rubber layers, rubber coated aramid, which subsequent to vulcanization provides a unitary plug with shoulders that resist delamination. The cylindrical body may incorporate metal end plates as well as end plate weldment structures which cooperate with a high pressure flow-through conduit which allows the completed high pressure test plug to simultaneously seal a pipeline and to direct fluid therethrough. The high pressure plug obtains its strength in part based upon high frictional resistance forces generated by the external rubber layer(s), and further by the manner in which the external rubber layer8s) are molded into the metallic structures in the plug.

  • Patent number: 8388651
Abstract: A method and apparatus to terminate sacral hemorrhaging in a patient having a sacrum and a pubic bone is disclosed. A C-shaped driver is positioned around the pubic bone of the patient and a hemorrhage occluder pin is driven into the sacrum of the patient by applying an impact force to a proximal end of the C-shaped driver. The driver may include a C-shaped shaft that defines a radius in the range 50 mm to 200 mm and a maximum span in the range 100 mm to 650 mm. The proximal end of the C-shaped shaft may have a blunt face with a breadth that is at least 2.5 times the diameter of the pin cap. • Publication number: 20110118659
Abstract: A multi-port syringe assembly that allows fluid to be drawn into or injected out of the assembly. For example, the assembly may include one syringe that is used to aspirate fluid from a patient and another syringe to inject a medical fluid into the patient. As one medical application, the first syringe can withdraw fluid from a patient and the second syringe can be used to inject a steroid into the patient. The assembly may include a third syringe so that a second medical fluid can be injected into the patient. With a three syringe assembly an anesthetic can be injected into the patient before aspiration of fluid. Alternatively, the assembly may have a two-way valve located in the first proximal channel.

  • Publication number: 20080275403
Abstract: A dual syringe assembly that allows for two liquids to be sequentially injected through the same needle. By way of example, one syringe may contain a steroid and the other syringe may hold an anesthetic. The syringes are coupled to a needle by a connector. The needle can be inserted into a hand by medical personnel and manipulated until placed in contact with a tendon sheath. The steroid can be administered by depressing a plunger of the syringe that contains the steroid. The anesthetic can then be injected into the hand by depressing the plunger of the other syringe. The needle is then pulled out of the hand. The injection of the anesthetic flushes steroid from the needle and the Y-connector so that steroid is not ejected onto surrounding tissue when the needle is removed from the hand.
