  • Patent number: 6226581
Abstract: Device and method which to control movement quantities representing the movement of the vehicle. The device contains first arrangement for detecting quantities representing the movement of the vehicle. The device has at least two control devices which implement, independently of one another, control actions to stabilize the vehicle with the help of suitable actuators on the basis of quantities detected with the help of the first arrangement. At least one of the control devices influences the steering of the vehicle. Furthermore, at least one of the control devices influences the brakes and/or the engine of the vehicle, and/or an additional control device influences the chassis actuators. In addition, the device has a second arrangement with which signals and/or quantities are determined on the basis of the quantities detected with the first arrangement and used to influence at least temporarily at least one of the minimum of two control devices, so that the vehicle is thereby stabilized.

  • Patent number: 6154688
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and an arrangement for controlling a motor vehicle. Several components are arranged in a command hierarchy and the commands for the components flow only from a higher abstraction level into a lower abstraction level and from a higher hierarchial level into a lower hierarchial level. Each component has only one command generator. The components operator-controlled elements are arranged in the command hierarchy as low as possible.

  • Patent number: 6122577
Abstract: The apparatus is used for monitoring sensors in a vehicle which generate signals each representing different physical variables. The apparatus contains a first arrangement with which, for at least two sensors and on the basis at least of the signals generated by them, comparison variables defined identically for the sensors are determined. The apparatus also includes a second arrangement with which, as a function of at least the determined comparison variables, a reference variable is determined. On the basis of at least the determined reference variable, a monitoring operation for at least one sensor is performed in a third arrangement. In addition to the third arrangement, the apparatus further includes a fourth arrangement with which, for at least one sensor, a correction of the signal generated by the fourth arrangement is performed, at least as a function of the reference variable.

  • Patent number: 6092006
Abstract: A control system for a motor vehicle has several components for carrying out different tasks to control the vehicle. The data, which are necessary from the components, are acquired independently by the components either via data interrogation or via request relationships.

  • Patent number: 5991669
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for controlling a vehicle includes at least one source for at least one resource and at least one consumer which consumes the resource. At least one coordinator is provided which allocates the resource to the consumer in dependence upon the capacity of the source and the resource demand of the consumer.

  • Patent number: 5893897
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for detecting combustion misfires in an internal combustion engine having a crankshaft and a transducer wheel coupled to the crankshaft and a sensor. The combustion misfires are detected on the basis of a time-dependent trace of the rotational movement of the transducer wheel and the transducer wheel has predetermined segments which pass the sensor. In the method, a sensor is utilized to detect segment times in which the segments pass the sensor so that the sensor produces a sensor signal representing the segment times. The sensor signal is applied as an input signal to first and second lowpass filters mutually connected in parallel thereby obtaining first and second output signals which react with different speeds to changes in the input signal. The difference between the first and second output signals is formed and a measure is, in turn, formed for the changes of the difference.

  • Patent number: 5875411
Abstract: A method is introduced for detecting combustion misfires on the basis of the time-dependent course of the rotational movement of a transducer wheel, which is coupled to the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. In this method, the segment times, in which predetermined segments of the transducer wheel pass a sensor, are detected and processed to a measure for the rough running of the internal combustion engine. A conclusion as to misfires is drawn from the behavior of the measure. The measure for the rough running is formed by digital filtering of segment times with predetermined filter coefficients.

  • Patent number: 5726352
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for detecting combustion misfires in a multicylinder internal combustion engine. The method includes the steps of: detecting the time span ts(i) in which the crankshaft of the engine passes through a pregiven angular range (.phi.) for each ignition of the engine; computing a vector element Lut(i) for the rough running of the engine based on at least one detected time span ts(i) for each ignition (i) of the engine; forming a vector LUT(i) from at least two vector elements Lut(i), Lut(j) with the two vector elements Lut(i), Lut(j) being for each ignition (i); computing the spacing between the vector LUT(i) and at least one predetermined reference vector Rn and Ra; and, detecting a combustion misfire when the spacing satisfies a predetermined condition.
