Patent number: 6364220Abstract: A fuel injector for fuel-injection systems of internal combustion engines which includes an elongated, axially running, thin-walled, non-magnetic sleeve. At its downstream end, the sleeve has a bottom section, which runs substantially normal to the otherwise axial extent of the sleeve along a longitudinal valve axis. A valve needle, which is securely joined to an armature and a valve-closure member, can move axially within a feed-through opening of the sleeve. The valve-closure member cooperates with a valve-seat surface provided on a valve-seat body, the valve-seat body being pressed into the sleeve and likewise abutting, for example, on the bottom section of the sleeve. The sleeve constituted as a drawn sheet-metal part extends axially over more than half of the axial length of the fuel injector. The fuel injector is suited for applications in fuel-injection systems of mixture-compressing internal combustion engines having externally supplied ignition.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1998Date of Patent: April 2, 2002Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Clemens Willke, Ferdinand Reiter, Willi Frank, Rudolf Kalb, Gerfried Hirt, Assadollah Awarzamani, Thomas Keil

Publication number: 20010002681Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel injector for fuel-injection systems of internal combustion engines, in which is provided an elongated, axially running, thin-walled, non-magnetic sleeve (12). At its downstream end, the sleeve (12) has a bottom section (20), which runs substantially normal to the otherwise axial extent of the sleeve (12) along a longitudinal valve axis (10). A valve needle (28), which is securely joined to an armature (24) and a valve-closure member (30), can move axially within a feed-through opening (21) of the sleeve (12). The valve-closure member (30) cooperates with a valve-seat surface (35) provided on a valve-seat body (25), the valve-seat body (25) being pressed into the sleeve (12) and likewise abutting, for example, on the bottom section (20) of the sleeve (12). The sleeve (12) constituted as a drawn sheet-metal part extends axially over more than half of the axial length of the fuel injector.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 12, 1998Publication date: June 7, 2001Inventors: CLEMENS WILLKE, FERDINAND REITER, WILLI FRANK, RUDOLF KALB, GERFRIED HIRT, ASSADOLLAH AWARZAMANI, THOMAS KEIL

Patent number: 6067970Abstract: A fuel injection device for an internal combustion engine having a fuel injection valve which sprays the fuel in the direction of an inlet valve and includes an electric heating element for the fuel before it reaches an inlet valve. The fuel injection device has a fuel injection valve which sprays the fuel in the form of a fuel jet in the direction of the inlet valve of the internal combustion engine, the fuel jet leaving the fuel injection valve at least in part strikes an electric heating element which, according to the invention, is designed as a Peltier element. The fuel injection device according to the invention is intended, in particular, for mixture-compressing, applied-ignition internal combustion engines.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 1995Date of Patent: May 30, 2000Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Assadollah Awarzamani, Thomas Wilfert, Joerg Heyse

Patent number: 5915626Abstract: A fuel injector includes a magnetic coil whose power dissipation is utilized to pre-heat fuel flowing through the fuel injector. The magnetic coil is arranged so that a thermal coupling between the magnetic coil and the fuel flowing through a heat exchanger segment is acquired. In addition, a Peltier element (which functions as a heat pump) can be arranged between the magnetic coil and the heat exchanger segment. Furthermore, the fuel can also be heated using a heating coil.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1997Date of Patent: June 29, 1999Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Assadollah Awarzamani, Stefan Maier

Patent number: 5875975Abstract: A fuel injector including a valve needle, where individual components, such as the valve needle segment and the valve closing element, are rigidly connected with one another by means of using a joining method which does not act on substance. In ideal manner, only pressure connections are present on the valve needle.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1997Date of Patent: March 2, 1999Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Ferdinand Reiter, Assadollah Awarzamani

Patent number: 5821401Abstract: A gas sensor includes a one-piece housing sleeve having a length dimension; an exhaust gas-side end and an opposite, exhaust gas-remote end, an inner space, an external thread, a terminal length portion which includes the exhaust gas-side end and which is exposable to an exhaust gas and a shoulder extending along an entire inner circumference of the housing sleeve at the terminal length portion thereof. A protecting sleeve which is disposed in the terminal length portion has a sealing collar seated on the shoulder of the housing sleeve. A ceramic supporting member is disposed in the inner space and has a throughgoing aperture parallel to the length dimension of the housing sleeve. The ceramic supporting member separates the inner space into a reference gas chamber and an exhaust gas chamber. The exhaust gas chamber is surrounded by the terminal length portion of the housing sleeve. A sensor element passes through and is fixedly held in the throughgoing aperture of the ceramic supporting member.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1997Date of Patent: October 13, 1998Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Assadollah Awarzamani, Peter Kolb

Patent number: 5718387Abstract: A perforated-disk carrier is provided on the fuel injection valve downstream of the valve seat surface, the perforated-disk carrier having an inner, dish-shaped carrier section into which a multiplicity of perforated disks with different dimensions can be inserted. To achieve this end, the cupshaped perforated-disk carrier rests partially against the lower end of the valve seat body exhibiting the valve seat surface and is rigidly connected to the body. In the installed condition, the perforated disk, which is selected in accordance with the corresponding requirements and is inserted in the carrier section, likewise rests against the lower end of the valve seat body. The fuel injection valve is particularly suitable for fuel injection systems of mixture- compressing, applied-ignition internal combustion engines.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1995Date of Patent: February 17, 1998Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Assadollah Awarzamani, Norbert Belzner

Patent number: 5685280Abstract: A fuel injection device provides a heating element that heats a fuel jet, the heating element being moved temporarily into the fuel jet downstream of a spray opening of the fuel injection valve and otherwise remaining outside the fuel jet. Improved fuel atomization of the fuel jet is thereby obtained or maintained. The fuel injection device can be used, for example, in mixture-compressing, applied-ignition internal combustion engines.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1995Date of Patent: November 11, 1997Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Bernd Krauss, Assadollah Awarzamani, Thomas Wilfert, Joerg Heyse

Patent number: 5617835Abstract: In known inlet valves, condensation of the fuel, which is precipitated in the form of a wall film, occurs at the inlet valve, in particular when the internal combustion engine is in the cold state. Relatively large fuel droplets, which cause an increase in the harmful components in the exhaust gas, can break away from the wall film. The inlet valve according to the invention has a hollow shaft into which compressed air flows via at least one inlet shaft opening, the compressed air then flowing out again from at least one outlet opening which is provided on one side of the inlet valve facing away from the combustion space of the internal combustion engine. As a result of the outflowing compressed air, an air film is produced around the valve head, which air film prevents condensation of the fuel. The inlet valve is provided in particular for mixture-compressing, spark ignition internal combustion engines.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1996Date of Patent: April 8, 1997Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Assadollah Awarzamani, Thomas Wilfert
