  • Publication number: 20090232112
Abstract: Embodiments include systems and methods for allocating time to a plurality of devices in the network of a piconet controller. Embodiments comprise selectively directing a steerable antenna beam of the piconet controller to a plurality of devices in succession during a polling process to receive time allocation requests from one or more of the devices. Subsequent to the polling process, a grant procedure is performed wherein a device is granted permission to transmit in a subsequent time interval. Also during the grant process, one or more devices are instructed to receive from the device granted permission to transmit. The polling process and the grant process occur in the same superframe.

  • Publication number: 20090168865
Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, parallel DFE processing may be utilized for single carrier systems that employ cyclic prefixes. • Publication number: 20080299962
Abstract: An extended range preamble is disclosed, for transmission between extended range 802.11n devices. The extended range preamble consists of a high-throughput signal field, in which a modulation coding scheme rate and payload length are specified by the transmitting device. The extended range preamble also includes an expanded preamble, which is adjacent to the high-throughput signal field, and is not understood by non-extended range devices. The modulation coding scheme rate is specified as either one of the rates supported in non-extended range 802.11 devices or as a reserved modulation coding scheme not understood by the non-extended range devices. In either circumstance, the non-extended range device respects the preamble, and thus does not itself attempt a transmission during processing of the preamble.

  • Patent number: 7333555
Abstract: Briefly, some embodiments of the invention may provide devices, systems and methods for wireless combined-signal communication. For example, a method in accordance with an embodiment of the invention may include transmitting a combined signal over a combined channel by mapping a first block of said combined signal to be carried by a first sub-channel of said combined channel and mapping a second block, substantially identical to said first block, to be carried by a second sub-channel of said combined channel.

  • Publication number: 20070298810
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses enable selective operation in an extended bandwidth channel of a wireless communication band. For example, a client station can be selectively authorized to operate on a 40 MHz channel in a 2.4 GHz band. The client station or an access point or both can determine whether interference exists in the wireless communication band. If potential interference exists, the client station may operate on a non-extended bandwidth channel. If potential interference does not exist, the client station may operate on an extended bandwidth channel. Operation between the two channels can be dynamic based on continued monitoring of the wireless communication band for potential interference.
