Abstract: An online system is disclosed for matching vendors with consumers. Vendors pay a subscription fee to be listed with the system. Software automatically matches vendors with consumer requests based upon the category of goods and/or services described in the request and the geographical area (e.g., zip code) in which the goods and/or services are needed. The system alerts vendors of matching leads and allows the vendors to decide, at their discretion, whether to pursue the lead. The system has built in capacity to grow. If the system fails to generate a match for a consumer request, or a sufficient number of matches, the system notifies customer service personnel, who attempt to find unlisted vendors that match the consumer's needs. The unlisted vendors are then invited to be listed with the system.
