  • Patent number: 11838908
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support short control messaging using index modulation on DMRS. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes a base station determining a configuration action for a served user equipment (UE) in communication with the base station. The base station may then generate a short control message associated with the configuration action and map that short control message onto a set of inactive subcarrier resource elements (REs) of a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) sequence. The served UE may then receive the transmitted DMRS sequence and determine the short control message within the set of inactive subcarrier REs of the DMRS sequence. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

  • Patent number: 11838121
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a base station receives one or more signals indicative of a downlink compensation capability (e.g., an in-band capability to compensate for non-linear distortion, or an out-of-band capability to compensate for other FDM'd signal(s) to other UE(s), etc.) of at least one UE. The base station determines a set of downlink transmission requirements based on the downlink compensation capability of the at least one UE, and transmits data to the at least one UE in accordance with the set of downlink transmission requirements.

  • Publication number: 20230389032
Abstract: A device generates an estimated size of encoded versions of one or more pictures of video data prior to generating the encoded versions of the one or more pictures. A physical layer of a radio system of the device is configured to send a message to a wireless base station. The message indicates a size value based on the estimated size of the encoded versions of the one or more pictures. The physical layer of the radio system receives an uplink grant notification in response to the message. Based on the uplink grant notification, the physical layer of the radio system sends packets to the wireless base station containing the encoded versions of the one or more pictures.

  • Patent number: 11824693
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit signaling that configures a wireless device to use a multi-level coding (MLC) procedure to communicate with a base station. Based on receiving the signaling, the wireless device may select a channel quality indicator (CQI) index from a set of CQI indices that are associated with an MLC procedure. In some examples, the wireless device selects the CQI index from a set of CQI indices that includes both bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM)-based and MLC-based CQI indices. In other examples, the wireless device selects the CQI index from a set of CQI indices that includes solely MLC-based CQI indices. The wireless device may transmit the selected CQI index to the base station. And the base station may select a modulation and coding scheme for subsequent transmissions to the wireless device based on the received CQI index.

  • Publication number: 20230371059
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for adapting or considering a receiver gain when using super-high order modulations for data transmissions. In one aspect, a network entity may transmit a tracking reference signal (TRS) in a first slot adjacent in time to a second slot allocated for one or more data transmissions associated with a high order modulation. A user equipment (UE) may receive the TRS and may adjust a receiver gain based on the TRS before receiving the one or more data transmissions associated with the high order modulation in the second slot. In another aspect, a UE may indicate (e.g., based on a receiver gain at the UE) a type of slot (e.g., shortened slot) or a maximum number of slots in which a network entity may transmit data transmissions with a high modulation order.

  • Publication number: 20230362738
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A network entity may determine a number of resources for next transmissions following a first transmission. For example, a user equipment (UE) may calculate an average mutual information (MI) of a single log likelihood ratio (LLR) and an MI for each code block. A wireless device may monitor a feedback buffer utilization associated with the UE. A network entity may retransmit existing code blocks or output a transmission using repetition based on the monitoring and utilization thresholds. The network entity may indicate to the UE a latency level code block attribute and increase a quantity of resources for following retransmissions by a boosting factor based on the latency level and a threshold.
