  • Publication number: 20240138876
Abstract: A surgical access device includes a cannula body and a fixation mechanism. The fixation mechanism includes a collar, a driver, a distal ring, a proximal ring, and a plurality of petals. The driver extends distally from the collar, and the distal ring is operatively engaged with a distal portion of the driver. The proximal ring at least partially surrounds an elongated portion of the cannula body and is disposed proximally of the distal ring. The plurality of petals extends proximally from the distal ring and is longitudinally translatable relative to the proximal ring. Longitudinal translation of the collar causes the plurality of petals to move between a first position defining a first gap between a proximal end of the plurality of petals and the elongated portion, and a second position defining a second, greater gap between the proximal end of the plurality of petals and the elongated portion.

  • Publication number: 20230310026
Abstract: A surgical access device includes a cannula body and a fixation mechanism. The cannula body includes a housing, and an elongated portion extending distally from the housing and defining a longitudinal axis. The fixation mechanism includes a flange, a fixation sleeve, and a proximal sleeve. The flange is rotatable about the longitudinal axis. The fixation sleeve extends distally from the flange and radially surrounds a portion of the elongated portion of the cannula body. The proximal sleeve extends distally from the flange and radially surrounds a proximal portion of the fixation sleeve. Rotation of the flange causes a radially-expandable portion of the fixation sleeve to move between a first position defining a first gap between the radially-expandable portion and the elongated portion, and a second position defining a second, greater, gap between the radially-expandable portion and the elongated portion.

  • Patent number: 11751907
Abstract: A surgical access device has a cannula tube with a collar coupled to a proximal region of the cannula tube. A balloon is attached to the cannula tube. The collar includes a receptacle and an inflater is insertable into the receptacle. The inflater has a body with a chamber and a first compound. A cap is attached to one end of the body and has a cavity containing a second compound. A membrane is disposed between the body and the cap and is configured to keep the first and second compounds separate. A button extends through an opening of the cap and a piston is coupled to the button. The piston includes a spike extending away from the button and is translatable in the cap between a rest position and an actuated position. The actuated position is defined by a portion of the spike penetrating the membrane such that the first compound interacts with the second compound generating a gas that is communicated to the balloon via a groove of the cannula tube.
