  • Publication number: 20220094145
Abstract: An adjustable insulating device is provided. An example device includes a housing and an extendable member at least partially located within the housing. The extendable member moves between a retracted position and an extended position. The device further includes an adjustment mechanism operably coupled with the extendable member. The adjustment mechanism causes translation of the extendable member between the retracted position and the extended position. The adjustment mechanism includes a first roller rotationally engaged with the extendable member at a first position that houses a first motor, and a second roller rotationally engaged with the extendable member at a second position that houses a second motor. An output of the first motor and an output of the second motor are configured to cause translation of the extendable member between the retracted position and the extended position, via the first roller and the second roller.

  • Publication number: 20220060957
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for performing thermal mitigation for one or more devices. For instance, a temperature, humidity, amount of light, and/or other characteristic or factor associated with a vehicle can be obtained. Whether to transition one or more communication functions from the vehicle to a user device can be determined based on the temperature, humidity, etc. In response to a determination to transition the one or more communication functions, the one or more communication functions can be transitioned from a communication unit of the vehicle to a communication unit of the user device.

  • Patent number: 11257342
Abstract: Embodiments relate generally to methods and systems for monitoring personal protection equipment (PPE) compliance. A method may comprise receiving, by a user identification (ID) module, information from sensor modules attached to PPE devices worn by the user, determining if the sensor modules indicate that the PPE devices are active or inactive, communicating the information from the user ID to a supervisor console, and displaying this information by a supervisor console. The user ID may be associated with a specific user, and the sensor modules may be associated with specific PPE devices. When it is determined that a required PPE device is inactive, corrective action may be taken by the supervisor.

  • Publication number: 20210264793
Abstract: Various embodiments include methods that may be implementing in a computing system within vehicles for supporting communicating proxy basic safety communications while operating within a platoon of vehicles to control congestion on frequencies used for basic safety communications. In various embodiments, while a vehicle is operating as a designated platoon vehicle, the computing system may generate a proxy basic safety communication including position and dimension information of the platoon as a whole, and broadcast the proxy basic safety communication on behalf of vehicles in the platoon. The proxy basic safety communication may include positions of certain vehicles within and dimensions of the platoon. While in a platoon but not operating as the designated platoon vehicle, the computing system may not broadcast basic safety communications or broadcast such communications at low power.

  • Publication number: 20210221390
Abstract: The calibration of a vehicle sensor can be conducted based on communication between vehicles. A first vehicle needing sensor calibration can receive calibration information from a second vehicle, indicating the location of a calibration marker at one or more times. The first vehicle can then compare the calibration information with measurement information of the calibration marker made by a sensor, and recalibrate the sensor based on a comparison of the calibration information and measurement information. According to some embodiments, vehicles may leverage existing vehicle-to-vehicle communications (e.g., Cellular vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication) to broadcast calibration capabilities.

  • Patent number: 11031755
Abstract: A shotgun stick for use with grounding devices is provided. An example shotgun stick includes a housing and a drive shaft supported within the housing. The shotgun stick further includes a torque connector coupled with a first end of the drive shaft that receives a grounding clamp assembly. The shotgun stick includes a motor assembly operably connected to a second end of the drive shaft. In an automatic mode, the motor assembly drives the drive shaft so as to actuate the grounding clamp assembly received by the torque connector. The shotgun stick also includes a manual locking mechanism. In a manual mode, the manual locking assembly locks the drive shaft to at least a portion of the housing so as to preclude rotation of the drive shaft and allow manual actuation of the grounding clamp assembly received by the torque connector.

  • Publication number: 20210063546
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to vehicle sensors. In some aspects, a device associated with a vehicle may obtain, from an external source, calibration data including a first set of measurements related to a position of one or more objects in a reference frame associated with the external source. The device may identify a second set of measurements related to the position of the one or more objects within a field of view of one or more onboard sensors, and update a calibration table based at least in part on a comparison of one or more of the first set of measurements and one or more of the second set of measurements that are most time-aligned. Accordingly, the device may convert sensor-derived location information from a source reference frame to a reference frame associated with the vehicle using the updated calibration table. Numerous other aspects are provided.
