  • Publication number: 20160374050
Abstract: A method for providing multicast/broadcast service continuity for mobile terminals in a radio access network includes the mobile terminals registering with a base station of said radio access network regarding the multicast/broadcast service and the base station transmitting multicast/broadcast service related data as group communications to registered mobile terminals. The method involves performing, by a first mobile terminal, multicast/broadcast service related radio measurements, and taking, based on the results of the multicast/broadcast service related radio measurements, a decision on actions to be performed by at least one of the base station and the first mobile terminal for preserving reliable transmission/reception of the multicast/broadcast service related data to/by the first mobile terminal.

  • Publication number: 20160149818
Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from optimized transmissions. A method can include receiving data to be forwarded to a first wireless device. The method can also include determining the data as delay tolerant data. Moreover, the method can include defining a role of at least one second wireless device for forwarding the delay tolerant data. Also, the method can include transmitting the delay tolerant data to the second wireless device to be forwarded to the first wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20160119087
Abstract: A method for operating a distributed base station includes performing Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) processing. The distributed base station comprises a centralized processing entity and distributed remote radio access points, which are coupled to the centralized processing entity via a backhaul connection. The HARQ processing is performed locally by the remote radio access points, by performing an assessment a quality of received data and/or current radio conditions. Based on the assessment, it is decided locally on a necessity of re-transmissions without decoding the received data at the remote radio access points.

  • Patent number: 9125113
Abstract: A user equipment UE selects between a first scanning mode and a second scanning mode using at least inputs of signal quality of a link with an access node and at least one of UE speed and network type of the access node. It then determines a scanning rate using the selected scanning mode and the UE speed, and detects and measures inter-frequency neighbor cells according to the determined scanning rate. In one example both modes the increase scanning rate for increased UE speeds, except that for the first mode speeds above Vt1 yield a zero scanning rate regardless of UE speed and for the second mode speeds above Vt2 yield a constant maximum scanning rate regardless of UE speed. In an embodiment the second mode is selected when the UE speed is >Vt1, and the signal quality is less than a predetermined minimum. Various other examples are detailed.

  • Patent number: 8897317
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for providing distributed capacity based channel assignment in a radio frequency base station servicing a local area. A method can include determining that an additional channel is needed, receiving reports from user equipment connected to the base station over the air interface indicating the gain in capacity due to the added channel, adding the new channel, receiving loss reports from one or more neighboring base stations indicating the loss in capacity and the interference caused to user equipments serviced by the neighboring base stations due to the use of the new channel. The method can also include comparing the gain in capacity to the loss of capacity by the worst user connected to the neighboring base stations due to the added channel and determining whether to continue to add the channel to increase capacity.
