  • Patent number: 8140117
Abstract: The invention relates to a circuit board such as an SIM card for use in an apparatus such as a mobile telephone. The circuit board comprises an adaptive electromagnetic coupler, and is arranged to find the different resonance modes for the surrounding metallic structure of the apparatus, which may be of arbitrary geometry and character. The different resonance modes and resonance frequencies are influenced, and the resonance mode that gives the most efficient radiation of electromagnetic energy is selected on the desired frequency. The circuit board can be adapted to combined transmitters and receivers by the ability to put it into transmission or receiving mode with a selector switch. By connecting electromagnetic energy to the surrounding metallic structure, the electromagnetic coupler can be made small, viewed in connection with the frequency employed. This permits it to be designed as a small SIM card.

  • Patent number: 7342482
Abstract: A method for processing of encoded information by a battery-powered active transponder is disclosed for the application within a transponder system for the wireless payment of road toll having the steps of receiving modulated microwave radiation of preset frequency by the transponder over the antenna and for obtaining an input signal demodulated for obtaining a binary input data sequence, feeding said binary input data sequence to a digital processor (microcontroller) operated by a processing clock of preset clock frequency for decoding and generating of a binary output data sequence, and forming an output signal from an answer to the received input signal within a certain duration.

  • Publication number: 20060220958
Abstract: An antenna element for an array antenna comprises a transmission line (1) passed through a ground plane (3), connected at an excitation point (8) to a flat, conductive, helical excitation element (6) mounted on a dielectric substrate (4) on the top of and parallel to the ground plane (3). The distance between the excitation element (6) and the ground plane (3) is greater than one eight of the longest wavelength of the signals with which the antenna is arranged to operate, and preferably between 0.25 and 0.50 times the wavelength. The path length of the electric conductor that constitutes the excitation element is greater than the said wavelength, and preferably between 10 and 100 times the wavelength. This causes the excitation element to operate as a leakage wave structure, with the result that the antenna element becomes non-resonant.

  • Patent number: 6885342
Abstract: Antenna for sending and receiving microwave radiation, e.g. for use in a transponder in a transponder system for wireless payment of tolls, or the like. It has an excited antenna element (13) placed on a dielectric antenna carrier or substratum (11), e.g. on a printed circuit board laminate with a copper covered plastic basis suitable for manufacturing of so-called printed circuits. To increase the performance of the antenna for high production rates with cheap materials, the antenna element is placed such that it gets a directional effect mainly perpendicular to a bearing plane (12) of the substratum (11).

  • Publication number: 20050017908
Abstract: The invention relates to an antenna device for use with a radio transmitter (122) mounted in an electrical installation cabinet (100) such as a fuse box, where at least one electrical supply line (130) is passed through an opening (140) in the installation cabinet (100). The antenna device comprises a signal connection of the radio transmitter's antenna output (150) to a section of the supply line inside the installation cabinet (100). The result of this is that the supply line (130) is employed as a travelling wave antenna for the radio transmitter (122). The invention further relates to a remote reading device in which the device is included, a method for providing an antenna for a radio transmitter in an installation cabinet and an application of a supply line that is passed into or out of the installation cabinet.

  • Publication number: 20040209571
Abstract: An apparatus that is employed to increase the data transfer capacity between transmitters and receivers for short-range data communication, particularly for the ISM frequency bands where different transmitters with different modulation and transmission methods operate in the same frequency band. The object is achieved by orienting antenna lobes that provide high antenna amplification towards transmitters and receivers in the local area of the apparatus, with the result that the distance loss between a transmitter and receiver becomes less than the distance loss represented by the lobes oriented away from the apparatus and the inbuilt amplification in the apparatus. In contrast to a normal “repeater” function for increasing a coverage area, the object is particularly achieved of increasing the capacity in an area where there is already a good transmission channel between transmitters and receivers.

  • Publication number: 20030112125
Abstract: Method and communications controller for processing of encoded information by a battery-powered active transponder. It is particularly provided for the application within a transponder system for the wireless payment of road toll, whereby the transponder over an antenna receives modulated microwave radiation of preset frequency for obtaining an input signal which is demodulated for obtaining a binary input data sequence. This is then fed to a digital processor (microcontroller) operated by a processing clock of preset clock frequency, for decoding and generating of a binary output data sequence, from which within a certain duration as an answer to the received input signal an output signal is formed, which is transmitted over the antenna of the transponder.
