  • Patent number: 8727526
Abstract: In an inkjet printing apparatus capable of automatic duplex printing, time required to fix ink is shortened and throughput is improved without producing uneven fixing. The inkjet printing apparatus includes a printing unit that prints onto a sheet, a fixing unit that heats a sheet printed by the printing unit, a conveying unit that conveys a sheet with respect to the printing unit and the fixing unit, and a controller that controls the conveying unit such that a printing region of a sheet printed on the first side by the printing unit passes through the fixing unit, and afterwards, the conveyance direction of the sheet is reversed in order to print on the second side and the printing region once again passes through the fixing unit. The controller variably controls the conveyance speed of the sheet when the printing region once again passes through the fixing unit.

  • Patent number: 8726834
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a liquid applying apparatus which can inhibit a variation in application amount associated with the individual variability of a component of the apparatus. According to the present invention, a liquid holding space in which a liquid is held is formed between the applying member and the liquid holding member. When the applying member moves, the liquid attached to the applying member is fed out of the liquid holding space together with the applying member. The liquid is applied to a medium. The application amount of liquid applied to the applying medium varies depending on the individual variability of a component such as a liquid applying member. The variation in liquid application amount is adjusted by adjusting section for adjusting, the rotation speed of the liquid holding member or the flow speed of the liquid flowing through the liquid holding space.

  • Publication number: 20120287191
Abstract: Provided are an inkjet printing apparatus and inkjet printing method that can, regardless of an ejection frequency of a print head, stabilize density of an image expressed on a print medium. For this purpose, an ink concentration integrated value is obtained according to the ejection history of each nozzle so as to be increased by data indicating non-ejection of the nozzle or decreased by data indicating ejection. Then, image data on the target pixel is corrected such that density of the target pixel is further reduced as the pixel is subjected to printing by a nozzle having a higher ink concentration integrated value.

  • Publication number: 20120274951
Abstract: A large and small dot distribution pattern is generated, for each chip, according to a large and small dot distribution ratio and ejection failure nozzle information. In doing so, a bias of large and small dot distribution ratio at a nozzle position including an ejection failure nozzle is set to be smaller than that at a nozzle position that does not including an ejection failure nozzle. Then, dot data to be printed by the ejection failure nozzle is equally distributed to large dot nozzles that can eject normally and small dot nozzles. By such a configuration, even if a plurality of printing chips have different printing characteristics, ejection failure compensation processing is performed to minimize image degradation caused by an unexpected ejection failure and an average ejection volume of each of the chips converge on a fixed target ejection volume, which leads to reduction of density unevenness among the chips.

  • Patent number: 8287090
Abstract: This invention reduces an unprinted stripe occurred by edge deviation of a printhead. An inkjet printing apparatus according to this invention can execute a first printing mode in which an image is printed by scanning the printhead in a first region on the printing medium N times and scanning the printhead in a second region adjacent to the first region (N+1) times, and a second mode in which an image is printed by scanning the printhead in the first region M times and scanning the printhead in the second region (M+1) times. The width, in the conveyance direction of the printing medium, of the second region printed in the second printing mode is narrower than the width, in the conveyance direction of the printing medium, of the second region printed in the first printing mode.

  • Patent number: 8251473
Abstract: To achieve high-quality printing by controlling an ink-travelling direction by an electrostatic force so that the ink can be accurately applied on a printing medium, the ink is landed on a desired position of the printing medium effectively without disturbing the ink ejection, independent of a difference in the thickness of the printing medium. An electric field between a printing head and the printing medium is generated by applying a voltage to a platen of conductive material positioned immediately below the printing medium. At this point, the voltage applied to the platen is adjusted so that the electric field of a preferable intensity can be generated on a face of the printing head where ejection openings are formed irrespective of the thickness of the printing medium.

  • Patent number: 8205982
Abstract: The present invention provides a liquid application device, an inkjet recording apparatus and a recording apparatus, which are capable of performing an adequate application initial operation according to the length of waiting time and power-off time, as well as a method of controlling the liquid application device. In the present invention, information on an end time of the previous processing for collecting liquid is read from a nonvolatile memory, current time information indicating the current time is obtained, and information on a lapse of time from the end time of the previous collection to a start time of the current application. Thereafter, the number of preliminary rotations R of an application roller is decided based on the information on the lapse of time with reference to a look-up table. Sequentially, the application roller is rotated by the decided number of preliminary rotations R to perform preprocessing operation.

  • Patent number: 8091977
Abstract: When thinning processing is performed to reduce the occurrence of black stripe caused by an overlap between scanning areas that is designed to prevent an end deviation from causing a white stripe, dots printed in a predetermined region by not only an ejection opening array subjected to the thinning processing but also other ejection opening arrays are counted so as to obtain their respective printing duties. Then, a color gamut is obtained based on the printing duties of the respective ejection opening arrays. Then, a thinning rate of the ejection opening array subjected to thinning processing is obtained by referring to a table corresponding to the color gamut, based on the printing duties of the respective ejection opening arrays obtained as above, and the thinning processing is performed. Accordingly, thinning processing can be performed which accurately reflects an amount of actual end deviation.
